I found the function in the CVS version at SF. dynapi3x/src/api/dyndocument.js line 220 It is also in Raymond Irving's proposed updates from 2004-05-27. dynapi/src/api/dyndocument.js line 220 You need to get the files from CVS. CVSROOT -> :pserver:ano...@cv...:/cvsroot/dynapi Protocol: pserver (password server) Server: cvs.sf.net Repository folder: /cvsroot/dynapi Username: anonymous Module: dynapi3x This is pretty standard for SourceForge projects. If in windows, you can use a command line version of cvs or you might like to use something like TortoiseCVS or WinCVS. http://www.tortoisecvs.org/ http://wincvs.org/ I prefer TortoiseCVS as it's intuitive. After installation, just create a a folder like CVSROOT, right-click, go to "CVS Checkout", enter the data as specified above, and in a few seconds you'll have a copy. Leif |

Hi all, i've looking for the related dynapi-files (or especially the dynapi.js) where the "writeStyle"-funstion is integrated. I've searched the sourceforge-CVS but without luck. Could anybody help me and send me a link where the latest dynapi-files with patches (or bugfixes) are available? Thx. in advance. I have a system using DynAPI v2.5.6 that was working well with the earlier= Mozilla versions but Firefox 0.9.1 and 1.0 doesnt seem to be capturing= keyboard events as it should. The system is still working fine with IE. Is this just a case of not identifying the browser version correctly or is= there a known incompatibility with FireFox and DynAPI? Hello Everyone, It's been a while since I've worked on the DynAPI core or widgets mainly because of other personal endeavors. But I since recently started looking back at the core and what I've found out that DynAPI keeps getting bigger and bigger with the addition of ns4 fixes, and other stuff. Some time ago I wanted to add some dynamic to a web app I was working on when I realized that DynAPI took up over 40k just to get me to move a simple layer! That was not good for the little web app. After searching and looking for an alternative library but I gave up and decided that it was time to create something new. Something that was as powerful as DynAPI and yet very small, fast and easy to use and supports modern browsers. NS4 support will limitted. The Web Application Framework ================================= It's pretty much a combination of DynAPI and the easy and flexibility of ASP.Net. I've liked the way how ASP.Net event driven architure worked so I tried to make it as simple as I could. For example: To simply display a message when the page load all you have to do is: <script src="../core/webelm.js"></script> <script> document.setIncludePath("../core/"); function document_onload(){ alert("Hi There, I'm fully loaded!"); } </script> Notice that the document object now becomes the core object in this framework. The idea is that this framework with try to make use of or simulate as much DOM+DynAPI functionality as best as possible. E.g. the getElementById() function will be available in ns4, ie4+, ns6, etc. The beauty about this framework is that it's closely tied to inline elements. Example: A blink a inline div element <script src="../core/webapi.js" type="text/javascript" language="javascript"></script> <script> document.setIncludePath("../core/"); var dx; function document_onload(){ dx = new WebElement("dx"); setInterval("blink()",400) } function blink(){ dx.setBgColor("yellow"); dx.setVisible(!dx.getVisible()); } </script> .... <div id="dx" style="position:absolute;visibility:hidden">Web Application Framework</div> The framework is still work in progress. It's not yet as powerful as DynAPI but it can certainly be used to add some dyamic effects to a website. The entire framework loads in under 20k (uncompressed). Would surely like to hear your views comment, etc. Best regards, __ Raymond Irving |

The strange thing is that the snapshots should run nightly builds but it just not doing it. I've tried to get it working once but no luck what so ever. I don't have access to do that task it seems. The other thing is that we can't even get the website updated. The guys who are mor knownledgeable about the system have moved on to other things. Try using CVS directly. __ Raymond Irving --- Michael Kunze <mic...@ch...> wrote: > Leif W wrote: > > > Err, Hi! *blink* Nobody answered yet? > > Nope and i already gave up hope ;) > > > That's DynAPI 3 beta 1, correct? Or anything in the JavaScript console (Mozilla family). Windows XP with Opera 8 (*g*), IE 6 something (SP2) and latest FireFox. No Error in any of the browser builtin console. I used the dynapi debugger to inspect my LoginButton. Interesting thing it shows this: x = 77 y = 127 w = 22 h = 22 Width and Height are both set to 22 (default image size) >> Any wild guesses here? > Nope! Only some very timid guesses, but they're sleeping right now. Another thing i noticed: If i load the page i see the Button (22x22 size of course) with blue default image. If i click it i see my image (again a clipped version only upper left 22 pixel) after mouse button is released i see the imageOff version (clipped again). So i think there is something wrong with the loading and init procedure of the button. It first sets the size to default image and shows it. If i use the button it takes my images (always cut to the 22 pixel) hope this helps to track it down. Investigating the LoginButton.imageOff with dynapi debugger shows nothing wrong. it's the correct image and the correct sizes. > BTW Farscape is awesome! I know. Hi, i got some problems with the new ButtonImage form the latest snapshot. i've got the following code: var LoginButton=LoginCredentials.addChild(new Button(null,77,127,111,27,'ButtonImage')); LoginButton.setLocalStyleAttribute('imageOn',dynapi.functions.getImage('images/login_button.jpg',110,27)); LoginButton.setLocalStyleAttribute('imageOff',dynapi.functions.getImage('images/login_button.jpg',110,27)); I think i tried everything but the results are always the same. The DynAPI just creates a small button with the default blueish image (22x22 pixel). Found that in the sourcecode. Unfortunatly documentation is some kind limitted. Any wild guesses here? -- Michael Kunze http://www.smrealms.de How much Sex can you have? - I don't know. I havn't maxed out yet. (John Crichton in Farscape) |

The DynAPI does it different. Maybe things have changed since the days when this worked, or maybe never worked, I dunno. api/dynlayer_base.js; 210-216 p.setVisible = function(b) { //! Overwritten by NS4 //if (b!=this.visible) { this.visible = b; if (this.css) this.css.visibility = b? "inherit" : "hidden"; //} }; api/dynlayer_ns4.js; 209-214 p.setVisible = function(b) { if (b!=this.visible) { this.visible = b; if (this.css) this.css.visibility = b? "inherit" : "hide"; } }; Perhaps it would help to toggle both the display (none, 'previous') and visibility (hidden, visible, or 'previous' for the non-standard CSS) properties, if they exist. If these differ for each browser now, maybe we can just add browser specific versions to each browser specific file (_ie, _ns4, _dom or new _mozilla, _opera, _etc. if needed). About the 1px IE problem, I don't know how ugly this is, but is there ever a condition where a layer does in fact have a zero height? For IE, maybe we could just create a dummy blank layer, and use it whenever we need or want size zero. Otherwise, as suggested, we don't fix but just plan the design work accordingly, and have a note to this effect in the docs and example page. I don't like that option so much, but well there's only so much you can do sometimes when a browser doesn't do what you hoped. I would do the same as Jesse said by setting 'display: none' using javascript to set the css style property: document.layer.style.display = none; Adeola. Hi All, I've been playing with this for a while for pet project, and found that there is no way to to get rid of a 1 pixel height in a div in IE. Here's what happens in IE: 1. If the div starts with no content and the height is 0 2. you add content and the height goes to the content height. 3. you remove content and the div height shrinks to 1 pixel, no matter what. I've tried setting the font size to 0, using a 0px height img, etc. and nothing works. Finally, I just incorporated the 1px height into my design. Here's what I had been working on, in case anyone wants to see the code: http://www.proteinmedia.com/main/0406/index.php Click on 'pictures' and 'words' to toggle content. It's pretty simple, but maybe it will help someone. I think chaning the visibility makes it dissapear, but the browser still leaves room for it. I'm not sure the right DynAPI way to change it, but if I was doing it with straight CSS, I'd set "display:false". Good luck. Jesse > > The following code works in Firefox, but not in IE. I've just tried in Firefox 1.0 and IE6. The example you gave was slightly broken and didn'twork in Firefox 1.0 or IE6 (need the *.setPath and *.include calls). I fixed that and it worked fine in Firefox 1.0 but it only half works in IE6. The text disappears in IE6, but the space that the layer occupies does not allow the restof the content to completely shrink, but rather leaves something as a place holder. If you comment out the setHTML line, it looks the same in Firefox as in IE6. I don't know why IE6 does this or how to work around. I wonder if this is related to the inline getVisible bug. The following code works in Firefox, but not in IE. In Firefox the layer dissapears completely, in IE there is a blank area left. Am I doing something wrong? <html> <head> <script language="JavaScript" src="dyn.js"></script> </head> first line<br> <div id="progress"> second line<br> </div> third line<br> <br> <b>the above should look like this (the layer should be completely invisible):</b><br><br> first line<br> third line<br> <script language="Javascript"> <!-- var progress = DynLayer.getInline("progress"); progress.setVisible(false); progress.setHTML(""); //--> </script> </html> |

It should be included there, not in ext/packages.js . Leif P.S. You can send a URL off-list if you like. |

Normally it's considered bad form to hijack another mailing list thread and change the subject to something totally unrelated. The proper way to unsubscribe from a SourceForge list is posted on the SourceForge site. It is also posted in the DynAPI mailing list archives as I have answered the question in the past. The URLs to those archives are on DynAPI's SourceForge site. I will post the unsubsrcibe process again. Note this will remove you from dynapi-help and dynapi-help-admin. The email from SourceForge (obtained by sending an email to dyn...@li... with subject "help" [without quotes]) explains how to unsubscribe by email. Send this command (as the subject line) to the same *-request* address. You need to know your password. If you lost your password, go to https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dynapi-help and request your password to be sent to you. unsubscribe <password> [address] Unsubscribe from the mailing list. Your password must match the one you gave when you subscribed. If you are trying to unsubscribe from a different address than the one you subscribed from, you may specify it in the 'address' field. Hi, Thanks for your answer. I realise its not a great place to put the file but I just wanted to get it working first, then I can move the file. I added the line you suggested. Slider = {}; // used by dynapi.library It doesn't seem to make any difference. I added an alert at the top of the page, but no alert gets called , could suggest that the file isnt even getting added. I can give you a link to the code can I send to you personally I don't really want to share with the world.
