    Hello,

There's an old game out there called "Still Life." Here's the Steam page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/46480/

It's so old to the point where the game was made with DirectX7 (I think).

The problem is that the Syberia settings that came with DxWnd are not compatible with Still Life. I also tried this guide on the latest version of DxWnd (2.02.52) http://youtu.be/Ak5fOuekKok

I understand I can run the version he used in the video, but I'd like to play my games windowed on the latest version of DxWnd.

Will you help me out? Thanks.

    Sure, I'll try.
But what version of Still Life are you interested in? I own a copy of the CD game (it was released for free with a PC game magazine some time ago...), lost somewhere so I also downloaded the game demo (still on fileplanet), but if you have the steam release, this very likely could have a quite different game engine and require a different configuration.
In any case, I'm trying to make the demo work, and I already got some interesting tech problems. But if you are interested in the steam release, I'm sorry I don't have a copy of that game (and not even a steam account ...) so things could be a little tougher.
    Please, let me know....

GOG's version of Still Life should be the same version as Steam's version. If you're the type that doesn't mind, you can torrent a copy of GOG's version on TPB and see if you can run it on windowed mode using your software.

I don't know, but honestly I doubt that GOG and steam release are identical.
I would expect that steam release would have some stronger protection mechanism, while GOG's (DRM free!) should have hardly one.
In any case, GOG's Still Life is working perfectly with dxwnd and in Win7 and dxwnd default configuration, provided that dxwnd is launched with administrator's priviliges (otherwise the game don't even start). Here are some more hints:

hook to the StillLife.exe executable, not to Game.exe
    set "hide cursor" flag
set "do not notify on task switch" if you don't like the game going minimized every time you click outside the game's window
set "lock win coordinates" to avoid the window to move in the upper left corner of the screen.

It should work like a charm. If not, there must be some specific problem on your platform: you should be more specific on the type of problem and send me a dxwnd logfile.

P.s. the game is not the one that deserves to be forgotten. Everyone please head to GOG and buy a copy!
