You know I use dxwnd to correct many issues caused by windows 8/10. I really miss the ability to minimize from full screen. without dxwnd if I press start button program would minimize so I could use other applications such as photoshop to save a screenshot or surf web while waiting on other player to complete their turn.
with dxwnd if I press start button I can see taskbar but only option is to close window and kill game process.
got any ideas or setting I might be able to change?

On the DxWnd window thare is a menu command Tools->Window->Minimize.
If that works, we can find an easier way to issue that command and get the task minimized.
If it doesn't work, that should mean that the game is not programmed for that mode (maybe too old?) so that could be a problem....
Please, refresh my memory: is there a game in particular you would like to start with?

menu command Tools->Window->Minimize
did not work, it is difficult to acess dxwnd window while in fullscreen.
as I said pressing start on keyboard brings up taskbar
but when I click on any taskbar icon I see no visable change. the only taskbar icon that works is onscreen start button or game icon hides taskbar.
but if I use start menu to open any other program like a notepad then sometimes taskbar icons start working again.
so I do have a work around now, but still very strange behavior.
I see 3 possible reasons
1. windows 10
2. very old game as you already stated
3. I am using Classic Shell to use old style start menu
thanks for your help

thanks for testing, I went and reloaded dxw from exports and it was a setting I added. (not sure why I changed it now) but I had "do not notify on task switch" checked. and this was causing the issue.
sorry for bothering you.

thanks for the suggestion cloudstr, but same problem once I am able to access WinLister I am able to switch to any other program.
gho, have you ever considered adding a print screen shortcut of DxWnd window? maybe with settings for location and image type?
Are we still talking about "Star Trek Birth of Federation" ? It doesn't seem to me that there is any of these problems on Win10.....
interesting,
