1st get the latest version of Gorasul 1.06 (no cd patch also)
2nd use gorasul_noov.exe and set it for compatibility mode for windows xp v3
3rd Run Dxwnd as administrator have to for windows xp compatibility or will
get 700 error.
4th Add Gorasul_noov.exe to Dxwnd and go to sound tab and click playsound
fix
5th save the icon and run.
I'm trying, with some unexpected problems so far: the MyAbandonware rlease stops the installation at CD2. I suspect it could be a bad image, though the file system seems ok.
I'll try with some different source.
P.s. in gorasul_noov.exe the "noov" suffix probably stands for "no overlay". I'm curious to see if DxWnd could manage the other executable as well.
UPDATE: old-games.ru English version in .mds/,mdf format is ok

Wonderful! In my case, things were not so simple and I had to add a few flags to avoid crashes, but I was also rewarded by the possibility to easily make a game full RIP that runs without any CD inserted (not even a CD image!) using the DxWnd fake-CD feature.
I made a preliminary test and with a little sweating because of the odd interface, I can say that everything is at its place: I created an avatar (Gholden Blade), started the role play and saved / loaded a savegame.
Now I want to test it a little more carefully, but the game is promising!
The game is perfectly playable! In effect, I already got out of the Roszonda's Tower sand finally got to the Village of Tolip.
As I said, I had to add a few flags to overtake some trouble, but now the game seems quite stable. In the initial menu, the cursor is leaving trails wherever, but I suspect it could be a wanted effect, because there's no trace of errors and in any case the trails don't overlap the menu text. It can be forgiven.
P.s. the game requires the CD1 inserted, or the partially unprotected crack can be satisfied by adding into the fake CD the following file (copied from CD1):
For that method you need to replace the executables using the old-games.ru crack defined as this:
NoCD 1.06 для английской версии игры.
I don't want to place links here, but you should have no problems to find it. The file release notes tell clearly that the patched executable bypasses some protection, but the CD1 is still needed and DxWnd can emulate that weaker part of the residual protection. Otherwise, PowerISO is probably a valid emulator to allow running the game with a good image.

I have power iso so putting the cd image in is not issue for me but I will try your method.
As for trails on the mouse on the first screen that can be fixed by setting compatibility mode to XP v3 on Gorasul_noov.exe but then you have to run DXWND in Administrator mode.
Windows 11 is a different story you do not need compatibility mode but the mouse will not appear. I am thinking the way windows 11 works with directinput is different. For that I had to hook dinput and emulate mouse relative movement and then alt tab in and out of DXWND to get the mouse to work. It is not a ideal solution for windows 11.

Probably Windows11 alone is not enough to define the odd behaviors that are frequently reported. I tried your suggestion, but even with the gorasul_noov.exe file set for Windoxw XP SP3 and DxWnd run as administrator I still have trails.
Probably that depends also on other factors, like the Win11 service packs, the video card and drivers and who knows what else.
Also, in this game I have no need to alt tab out and in again, but I have this problem with other games.
This is why I can hardly try to reduce the DxWnd complexity: you neve know if you can delete a flag or not.
I am using a nvidia 3080 card in windows 10 I am thinking if your using intel drivers maybe that is why your get your issue with trailing mouse. Also see the weapon in the box it is animated for me. not a big deal though, Also if you are using windows 11 you do not need to mess with compatibility settings.
Got it to work perfectly on windows 11 just had to turn on supress release on backbuffer for directx. no more direct input settings the mouse works perfectly now.

if you run in winxp v3 compatibility mode you can see the weapons in your first screenshot and get rid of the trailing mouse.

Tried your file but still asks for me to insert CD1 I do have GVDFILEID in the Gorasul dir.

I had to copy the contents of cd1 in the cd subdirectory now it works without mounting the cd thanks!
