For LiteralSystems.org (free CC audiobooks) I am attempting to create an audiobook DVD that runs 16+ hours. Unfortunately I get this message in process:
####
[dvd-slideshow] Concatenating all audio files...
/usr/bin/dvd-slideshow: line 6183: 17228 Broken pipe cat "$tmpdir"/audio1_????.raw
17229 File size limit exceeded| sox -t raw -w -s -c 2 -r $audio_sample_rate - "$tmpdir/audio1.wav"
[dvd-slideshow] Creating ac3 audio...

My Reiser filesystem does not impose this 2gig file size limit itself. Is there a workaround?

wow. I'm always amazed at the things people try to do with dvd-slideshow. I've heard of stop-motion videos, but this one is pretty cool also.
You should definitely check out the latest svn code, and set the video bitrate to be much lower than normal to get 16 hours. Also, you might want to set the chapter markers inside the .txt file. Your application seems great, and I'd be happy to help make dvd-slideshow work for your books and illustrations!
now, on to your problem... I think I looked into this before, and there was not a workaround at that time.
are you using one single audio input file, or multiple ones?
feel free to e-mail me directly and we can figure this out. scott at dylewski dot com
