There could be an option to upgrade the barracks/ wor so that it would produce 3 units at the cost of 2.

Regarding infantry/troopers Dune Legacy follows more like it is done in C&C. Therefore 3 unit squads were not implemented. But it might be possible to add this as a build option thus you would save some money/time but get 3 (independent) soldiers just as if you would have build 3 in a row.
