Thanks for this. I'd incorporated it and the one from #234 in my branch (dream-ollie) but some distros still have older versions of the gpsd package. I've just done a commit 1387 which attempts to handle the incompatible changes using #if directives based on the major version of the gpsd library. I'd be interested to know if it compiles for you.

The dream-ollie branch builds fine for me on fedora-37 (rawhide).
