Please explain the recognicion of the editor for files and coloring etc... its just confusing now for advanced map creation

Greyscale is wrong and the Game/Editor used grayscale does NOT FIT the RGB (Photoshop, GIMP or Windows) scale ! So none of the manually created .gif will work correctly
But thats not the problem. The problem is the colors numbering by editor/game. There should be a window or selection tool to select countrys out of a file
or DRAGN DROP every single country onto placement inside the editor. Like photoshop levels simply dragndrop and re arrange them.

So please let creators also re-arrange the association of colors/country by a menu or rightklick ! forget/remove the ugly painting feature.

Greyscale Alpha channel ? colors varity depend on number of countrys or continents ? (6 continents = 6 different grey colorings) ? You have a broken color detection. Because RGB Color 1 1 1 = Country 1 is not very useful. Why not associate it by setting a Number for a Country/Color ?!
Or by dragndrop the Country Point onto a country = selected greyscale is = Country number ???!!!

They are form my actual project, there you can see the issue. I tried to create as exact as possible the german (DE) version of Risiko 1975 by Parker .... it has teken me already 50H worktime xD
And i have no more time over now ..... but i want to finish this project.

Greyscale is wrong and the Game/Editor used grayscale does NOT FIT the RGB (Photoshop, >GIMP or Windows) scale ! So none of the manually created .gif will work correctly

that is true, because RGB gif does not have all grayscale values by default,
you CAN save it as grayscale gif in many editors, and that will have ALL 256 grayscale values. that is how the map editor does it, and how i have made maps before the map editor in paint tools.

the assign color tool is actually also already there, to use it:
    1) select the country
    2) position the circle over the color patch you want to re-color
    3) click "auto draw"
    4) click "flood fill"

if you think this functionality can be exposed another way please give me a numbered step by step description of how you think it should be used.
