We have a server here that has been running devmon for a couple years. We recently added a few extreme network switches to the mix of devices being polled. If I restart the devmon process then I get 1 successful poles of the switches and info send to xymon. Then it does not update anymore for about 3 polls then goes to the error below. But not for all tests in the template. Missing repeater data for primary OID ifName By increasing the number of max failed queries in the snmp module I was able to allow some parts of the template to work. The part I don't understand is if I run the queries manually they don't fail and obviously they don't fail the first time devmon runs only thereafter. If someone can give me some clue as to where to look it would be very appreciated. hello I'm working on a template for atrica a-8100 and I got some weird things. for if_stat I got some trouble to get the information about ifAdminStatNum and ifOperStatNum. I had no idea there was a "template builder".... I've always used a combination of a windows based MIB browser and snmpwalk/snmpget on a linux box and build the template manually. Hi folks. Trying to get some templates built. Currently working on an IBM IMM template for devmon. I have the imm.mib file on my server in the mibs directory. Running templatebuilder.pl as follows: sh-4.1# ./templatebuilder.pl -cpublic -v2c ibmimmaddress private Doesn't seem to be working. The ibmimmaddress is the ip of the target snmp device. Any suggestions for this or a better way to take a mib file and generate the templates or OID stuff that devmon needs? Thanks Don K |

hello I add qos jitter rtd etc on different template but in some case I don't have qos or jitter configured for a template and I got a lot of failed queries. I change the failed query max from 2 to 20 in the source code but it's seems that I got some weird things. alerting don't work for exemple. So my question is : It's possible to ask to devmon to do not do some specific test. I found a way to do specific test but I want to do not. thx for your help oau |

Thanks, but changing/putting a colored icon beside just one output (keep in mind this is a TABLE) causes the whole page to flag the color.....I just want something that visually pops out if/when you check the status on this particular TABLE. I think the HTML message trick could work, but I'd have to do an external test (which is doable), but I've got it all up and working with DEVMON already. Not sure...What you can use is the {tesname.color} attribute That will put in a COLORED icon based on the test color... Example in message file: Interface 2: {ifIndex2.color} Interface 3: {ifIndex3.color} Interface 4: {ifIndex4.color} Not sure if that helps but thats the only way i know of... Hi folks. I've been working on xymon for the past few months, getting up to speed, creating monitoring, etc. We have also installed devmon on our xymon server. I'm pretty new to snmp type monitoring and hoping to get some hosts setup in devmon to build on my experience. We would like to use devmon to monitor some IBM VMWare ESX hosts via snmp and so I'm looking for any templates that can be used on an IBM blade server 3550 model. I couldn't find them on the devmon sourceforge lists or archives. Do they exist and if so, does anyone know where to get them, or do we have to build them from scratch using a MIB ? Thanks Don K |

Looks correct...sure you don't have two spaces after the description in the specs file ? You could put: # testip DEVMON:cid(public)model:(HP;HP Server) For the time being...that will force the template to that particular host.
