I have a device that gives back a string of: SYS_TEMP: +31.00 C It displays ok, but I can't trigger a yellow or red when putting "> 25" in the thresholds file. Is there a way to strip off "SYS_TEMP: +" or ignore it ? Devmon guru's I am pulling this OID from some Cisco 7609's snmpwalk -v2c -c public HOSTNAME 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.42.1.5.2.1.2 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.42.1.5.2.1.2.15540 = Gauge32: 582 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.42.1.5.2.1.2.15600 = Gauge32: 582 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.42.1.5.2.1.2.15620 = Gauge32: 841 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.42.1.5.2.1.2.15660 = Gauge32: 59 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.42.1.5.2.1.2.15680 = Gauge32: 980 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.42.1.5.2.1.2.15700 = Gauge32: 591 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.42.1.5.2.1.2.15840 = Gauge32: 585 SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.42.1.5.2.1.2.30000 = Gauge32: 0 The last number on the captured OIDs do relate to the Vlan the gauge is for. The first one is .15540 this is for Vlan 1554. To make this usable in devmon I need to join this to the Vlan interface name to create a pleasant display on Xymon. I have dug around the mib to try and find something I can join to make an index and have not had any luck This gauge is the number of rtt jitters recorded. We use this to trigger an Event manager script. I wanted to be able to collect this with Devmon so we could get a graph and history in Xymon. Any ideas to break me out of the corner I am stuck in are welcome. Kevin H. If the walk output starts at ".1" then there's nothing at ".0" and you'll get an error if you try to get it. Cheers Jeremy |

Mike, Are you running devmon with debug logging? If not try running devmon with the -vvvvvv option. ( devmon -vvvv -c devmon.cfg) The devmon log is pretty good about telling you what it is unhappy about. Post back with what you find in the log. -Kevin > > Guy's, > > what is the process to debug issues with Devmon. Guy's, what is the process to debug issues with Devmon. I have a problem where I poll the host resource table on a cisco call manager and no data is returned. I can access it with net-snmp-tools, but Devmon reports an error. Thanks, Mike. |

Hi Thomas, Actually I'm simply wanting to be alerted if even one error occurs on an interface, so not really about the rate of errors. If I set my transform file to: # Do delta transform on all error counters InputErrors : DELTA : {ifInErrors} OutputErrors : DELTA : {ifOutErrors} Shouldn't this calculate a delta/difference between checks if an interface error occurs and give me the difference into "InputErrors / OutputErrors", for example 2 errors? With the thresholds file set to: InputErrors : yellow : >=1 : {ifName}{ifAliasBox} - Input error ({InputErrors}) OutputErrors : yellow : >=1 : {ifName}{ifAliasBox} - Output error ({OutputErrors}) I would think the message file below gives me an alert if one or more errors occur on an interface: Input Error YELLOW Status if: {InputErrors.thresh:yellow} Output Error YELLOW Status if: {OutputErrors.thresh:yellow} TABLE:rrd(DS:ds0:InputErrors:COUNTER; DS:ds1:OutputErrors:COUNTER) Ifc name|Errors incoming|Errors outgoing {ifName}{ifAliasBox}|{InputErrors.color}{InputErrors.errors}|{OutputErrors.color}{OutputErrors.errors} Thanks, Mario On 16 March 2012 07:37, Thomas Kähn <tk...@ne...> wrote: > Hi Mario, > > On Thu, Mar 15, 2012 at 05:57:17PM +0100, Mario Valetti wrote: > > Can someone advise where I'm going wrong? Please disregard my previous email..... A little tcpdump goes a long way.... The tcpdump showed a totally different oid then what was in my template. I had copied the template, then modified it, restarted DEVMON and it all looked ok....but wasn't. A reboot fixed it up. I have a device (eaton UPS) that supports snmp v1 or v3, no v2c.... My spec file is set to snmp v1, and the host is discovered, but I get no good data back (and I'm only trying to get the sysDescr back to start, nothing vendor specific). snmpwalking or snmpget for basic stuff like uptime, sysname, syslocation, are all good. So I'm wondering, is devmon discovering with v1 but polling with v2 ? Sorry, we lost some disks in the array that was connected to the server that was hosting staff.telkomsa.net (which was very old, no longer supported by the OEM, replacement hardware was installed but not all services migrated). Since we had some other more important roles on that box, we replaced it, but haven't yet got everything restored. I was hoping to get the content restored by this week. > Are you still using devmon weathermap or there is something else? I am still using it ... Hi guys, Trying to find something about devmon weathermap, but unsuccessfuly. Link pointing to http://staff.telkomsa.net/~bgmilne/devmon-weathermap-1.1.2.tar.gz gives 404. Are you still using devmon weathermap or there is something else? Regards Gatis |

I'm working on standard, unmodified templates. In particular with 3750, 4948 and 2801 devices. Thanks for the advice on the 'multigraphs=disk,if_load,if_err,temp' to CGI_SVC_OPTS in hobbitcgi.cfg or equivalent'. It's already a step forward. Regarding the thresholds; in my case, rather than wanting to check error packets as a percentage of bandwidth, I want to be alerted if and when an error is detected at all. ¨Perhaps a threshold check with the "* {ifInErrors}"* and "*{ifOutErrors}" *will give me what I need. I'll play around with it. Hi Jeremy, Thanks for your mail. The graphs do apear on under my 'trends' section, however I was looking to 'reset the values' for the table viewed within the if_err column check. This way I can look at the table, and see directly how many errors apeared on an interface within the past x hrs, instead of the graph. The counters seem to be cumulative over a long period. I do have a 'devmon' section in my graphs.cfg which is essentially copy of the settings from devmon_graph.cfg. I had added the if_err below: [if_err] FNPATTERN if_err.(.*).rrd TITLE Interface Errors YAXIS Errors DEF:in@RRDIDX@=@RRDFN@:ds0:AVERAGE CDEF:inerrors@RRDIDX@=in@RRDIDX@,8,* DEF:out@RRDIDX@=@RRDFN@:ds1:AVERAGE CDEF:outerrors@RRDIDX@=out@RRDIDX@,8,* LINE1:inerrors@RRDIDX@#@COLOR@:@RRDPARAM@ In GPRINT:inerrors@RRDIDX@:LAST: %8.2lf %s (cur) GPRINT:inerrors@RRDIDX@:MAX: %8.2lf %s (max) GPRINT:inerrors@RRDIDX@:MIN: %8.2lf %s (min) GPRINT:inerrors@RRDIDX@:AVERAGE: %8.2lf %s (avg)\n LINE1:outerrors@RRDIDX@#@COLOR@:@RRDPARAM@ Out GPRINT:outerrors@RRDIDX@:LAST: %8.2lf %s (cur) GPRINT:outerrors@RRDIDX@:MAX: %8.2lf %s (max) GPRINT:outerrors@RRDIDX@:MIN: %8.2lf %s (avg) GPRINT:outerrors@RRDIDX@:AVERAGE: %8.2lf %s (avg)\n -l 0 Mario On 24 January 2012 22:45, Jeremy Laidman <jla...@re...> wrote: > On Tue, Jan 24, 2012 at 10:26 PM, Mario Valetti <mar...@gm...> > wrote: > > I know the if_err graphs are available under the "trends" column, but is > it > > possible to view this period for errors directly in the table within the > > if_err column check? > > I've added the following into my graphs.cfg file to achieve this. > It's essentially a copy of the [if_load] definition from > devmon-graph.cfg, but with the FNPATTERN and TITLE adjusted.
