I have doubts about devmon all the time, it wouldn't bother me if other people did as well :) It looks like an IOS bug to me; the only place you can go from here is toupgrade your device to the latest and greatest IOS, and if that doesn't work, open a TAC case /w cisco. Cheers Eric, Now, it looks like it's not devmon's fault (never had a single doubt, honest!). from snmpwalk: .... interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifDescr.1 = "GigabitEthernet0/0" interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifDescr.2 = "GigabitEthernet0/1" .... interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifSpeed.1 = Gauge32: 2048000 interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifSpeed.2 = Gauge32: 100000000 .... .... Hmmm... I'm not a Cisco guru, where do I go from here, now? Also, from a closer look at the snmpwalk output, it is a Cisco 2851 router (I would have thought that snmpstatus alone would have reported the right model). Loris "Schwimmer, Eric E *HS" <EE...@hs...> Sent by: dev...@li... 24/01/2007 16:53 Please respond to dev...@li... To <dev...@li...> cc Subject Re: [Devmon] "Copying" device templates Hi Loris, Weird error, haven't had a problem /w speed translation on any of the cisco devices thus far, since that portion of the templates relies upon the public 'mgmt' mib tree. Try walking the 'ifDescr' and 'ifSpeed' OIDs on your 2800, find the table leaves that correspond to your two gigabit ifcs in the ifDescr table, and then find the same leaves in the ifSpeed table and get the values from there. i.e: [mydestkop]$ snmpwalk -c mycid -v2c 10.0.0.1 ifDescr IF-MIB::ifDescr.1 = STRING: GigabitEthernet0/0 IF-MIB::ifDescr.2 = STRING: GigabitEthernet0/1 ... ... [mydestkop]$ snmpwalk -c mycid -v2c 10.0.0.1 ifSpeed IF-MIB::ifSpeed.1 = Gauge32: 1000000000 IF-MIB::ifSpeed.2 = Gauge32: 1000000000 ... ... If you have values for ifSpeed that *aren't* 1,000,000,000 (i.e. 1 billion bits per second), then something is funky with your 2800. If they do have that value, then something is funky with devmon, or the 2800 template you are using :) e > -----Original Message----- > From: dev...@li... Sorry if I've missed it, but I see mention of NetApp templates, but cannot find if there is one downloadable somewhere. Is one available somewhere? Thanks in advance. -Alan -- Alan Sparks, UNIX/Linux Systems Integration and Administration <as...@do...> |

Unless there are some pretty fundamental differences to be monitored between the 2800 and the 2801, I have found it easier to set the device type in the DEVMON tag in the bb-hosts file. e.g. 10.1.1.1 my2801router # DEVMON:model(cisco;2800) -Sam Michael A. Hi Loris, Weird error, haven't had a problem /w speed translation on any of the cisco devices thus far, since that portion of the templates relies upon the public 'mgmt' mib tree. Try walking the 'ifDescr' and 'ifSpeed' OIDs on your 2800, find the table leaves that correspond to your two gigabit ifcs in the ifDescr table, and then find the same leaves in the ifSpeed table and get the values from there. i.e: [mydestkop]$ snmpwalk -c mycid -v2c 10.0.0.1 ifDescr IF-MIB::ifDescr.1 =3D STRING: GigabitEthernet0/0 IF-MIB::ifDescr.2 =3D STRING: GigabitEthernet0/1 ... ... [mydestkop]$ snmpwalk -c mycid -v2c 10.0.0.1 ifSpeed IF-MIB::ifSpeed.1 =3D Gauge32: 1000000000 IF-MIB::ifSpeed.2 =3D Gauge32: 1000000000 ... Hi Ayish. You might be the first person besides me to run devmon in multimode mode, so you are in (mostly) uncharted territory :) That being said, it *does* sound like its partially working, otherwise you wouldn't be getting any error messages. Is the test page you are getting completely blank, or is it truncated? If you look at the html source for the problematic test page, what does it look like? Are there any telling error messages in either your devmon or hobbit logs? Try running devmon like this on one of your nodes: devmon# ./devmon -vv -p This will cause devmon to run in the foreground and send its test results to stdout instead of to the bb server. Does it give you the output that you would expect to see on your bb page (minus any html formatting)? If so, then there might be a problem /w your bb server. If not, then its probably a problem /w devmon and we'll have to take a further look at it. -Eric > -----Original Message----- > From: dev...@li... I'll add this to my TODO list for the next version. (I know, I know, it seems like it will never get here.
