Hi all I'm using Devmon 0.3.0-beta2 on top of Hobbit 4.1.2p1 (soon to be= =20 upgraded to 4.2.0), and everything works fine so far ! However, I have an issue with 2 Cacti routers (one 1841 and one 2800,= on=20 which I only want to alarm for 1 interface Here's how they're declared : 10.151.89.1 foo #=20 DEVMON:cid(xxxx),except(all;ifName;ao:Se0/1/0:1.110) 10.151.88.1 bar #=20 DEVMON:cid(xxxx),except(all;ifName;ao:Se0/1/0:1),model(cisco;2801) For these 2 routers, I get "Not alarming on any values"... Is there a way to monitor interfaces with "fancy" names (by using '\'= =20 for example) ? Many thanks in advance ! --=20 Fr=E9d=E9ric Mangeant Steria EDC Sophia Antipolis |

I managed to get the hosts.db file updated but it was not easy. I have shown that the query to the non standard port fails since it seems to not read the hosts.db file correctly. Overall I am still impressed with devmon. It looks like an impressive and very flexible tool. bb-hosts contains: 0.0.0.0 cp.example.com # DEVMON:model(Checkpoint;FW-1),port(260),tests(volume) edit dm_config.pm my $sysdesc_oid = '1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.10.0'; #my $sysdesc_oid = '1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0'; check process is working on firewall: [Expert@cp]# ps -ef | grep snmp root 11505 1 0 14:40 ttyp2 00:00:00 /opt/CPshrd-R61/bin/cpsnmpd -p 260 edit dm_snmp.pm elsif($snmp_ver eq '1') { add this-> do_log("doing v1, host: $host, cid: $snmp_cid, port: $snmp_port",0); $session = SNMPv1_Session->open($host, $snmp_cid, $snmp_port); devint:/usr/local/devmontest# ./devmon -p --readbbhosts [07-10-01@14:53:23] doing v1, host: 10.10.1.1, cid: comstr::260, port: 161 [07-10-01@14:53:53] doing v1, host: 10.10.1.1, cid: comstr, port: 260 vi hosts.db cp.example.com^[10.10.1.1^[Checkpoint^[FW-1^[volume^[comstr::260^[^[ cat specs vendor : Checkpoint model : FW-1 snmpver : 1 sysdesc : FireWall-1 devint:/usr/local/devmontest# ./devmon -p -vvvv [07-10-01@14:54:59] Nodename autodetected as devint [07-10-01@14:54:59] ---Initilizing devmon... I have a device that has a shelf id and a module id which when you walk the oids they kick back a numeric value. So when i walk the shelf id i get "1" and when i walk the module id i can get between a "1-4". Well what I want to do is have it combine them so it would be: 1-1 1-2 1-3 1-4 And so forth and so on. The reason i am needing to do this is because I have a table and the shelf id is first but since all shelf ids are the number "1" it is alarming on: Alarming On (1,1,1,1) and i would like it to alarm on: Alarming On (1-1,1-2,1-3,1-4) I believe i need to do this in the transforms file before it gets to the message file. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I am trying to use port 260 for a query but it fails. Added debug code to dm_snmp.pm and it shows it uses port 161, not 260. I have added the port(260) parameter to bb-hosts, but my --readbbhosts failed so I suspect I have not edited hosts.db correctly. What is the syntax? This is what I have hosts.db: cp.example.com.^[10.10.1.1^[checkpoint^[1^[volume^[public I also tried cp.example.com.^[10.10.1.1^[checkpoint^[1^[volume^[public::260 Thanks Craig ____________________________________________________________________________________ Take the Internet to Go: Yahoo!Go puts the Internet in your pocket: mail, news, photos & more. http://mobile.yahoo.com/go?refer=1GNXIC |

Then I use NCV to graph it, in the hobbitserver.cfg, add these: in TEST2RRD add processor=ncv in GRAPHS add processor at the end of the file add NCV_processor="CPU:GAUGE" add this to your hobbitgraph.cfg [processor] TITLE CPU Load YAXIS Load DEF:cpu=processor.rrd:CPU:AVERAGE AREA:cpu#00CC00:CPU Load Average -u 100 -l 0 GPRINT:cpu:LAST: \: %5.1lf (cur) GPRINT:cpu:MAX: \: %5.1lf (max) GPRINT:cpu:MIN: \: %5.1lf (min) GPRINT:cpu:AVERAGE: \: %5.1lf (avg)\n That should do it. I found an old post in the archives about this issue: The problem was caused by two OID aliases having the same name (ifSpeed). Even though they were in different tests in the same template, the would still overwrite each other. If you want to fix it, edit the "messages" and "transforms" files in the if_stat and if_load tests of the template you need to fix. Change all references of "ifSpeed" to "ifSpeedTxt". That should fix it. Here is theoriginal post: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=03D21F677F387444985F052E78DB5F72756298%40BRSEXCH02.brs.local Trent On Fri, 2007-09-21 at 16:51 -0400, Joshua Krause wrote: > I have a question about the "Interface Speed" option in most of the > cisco templates. I verified in the specs file that there is no spaces after any lines. I ran a debug and it looks like it sees the vendor but maybe not the model? I have that problem too after restarting hobbit, but in that case I know about it and can restart devmon right after. That problem also generates an error in the log, "Can't connect to display" or something like that.=20 With my problem I get no error message at all, and I'd rather not run in debug mode for several days either. Often it stops reporting during the weekend, and I don't see that it's purple until Monday, a lot could happen during this time, with me not being alerted of it. =20 /Johan =20 ______________________________________________________ For me this same issue use to happen but only sometimes after I would restart hobbit. I would rather not have a cron job restart devmon at regular intervals. =20 >From log (verbose level is -vvvv): =20 [07-09-21@23:05:37] Starting snmp queries [07-09-21@23:05:37] Querying for tests cpu,if_stat,mem [07-09-21@23:05:37] Querying for tests if_dsc,connections,cpu,if_stat,failover,mem,if_err,if_load [07-09-21@23:05:37] Querying for tests if_dsc,cpu,if_stat,fans,if_col,power,mem,if_err,if_load [07-09-21@23:05:37] Querying for tests if_dsc,cpu,if_stat,fans,if_col,power,mem,if_err,if_load [07-09-21@23:05:37] Querying for tests if_dsc,cpu,if_stat,fans,if_col,power,mem,if_err,if_load [07-09-21@23:05:37] Querying for tests if_dsc,cpu,if_stat,fans,if_col,power,mem,if_err,if_load [07-09-21@23:05:37] Querying for tests if_dsc,cpu,if_stat,fans,if_col,power,mem,if_err,if_load [07-09-21@23:05:37] Querying for tests if_dsc,cpu,if_stat,fans,if_col,power,mem,if_err,if_load [07-09-21@23:05:37] Querying for tests if_dsc,cpu,if_stat,fans,if_col,power,mem,if_err,if_load [07-09-21@23:05:39] Performing test logic [07-09-21@23:05:40] Done with test logic [07-09-21@23:05:40] Sending messages to display server [07-09-21@23:05:40] Done sending messages [07-09-21@23:05:40] Sleeping for 57 seconds. I have started to build a template for a vendor named Valere, they have dc power equipment. I created a folder called "valere-xc2000" and i have a "specs" file that contains this: vendor : valere model : xc2000 snmpver : 1 sysdesc : Sys Now I know the "sysdesc" looks odd but that is all that is listed when i do an snmpwalk: [hobbit@gsonc-spg-ops-1 templates]$ snmpwalk -v 1 -c public gsonc-spg- valere-1 sysdesc SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Sys Description Now if I was able to use the "sysname" instead of "sysdesc" I could be more descriptive: [hobbit@gsonc-spg-ops-1 templates]$ snmpwalk -v 1 -c public gsonc-spg- valere-1 sysname SNMPv2-MIB::sysName.0 = STRING: Valere: Modular Power Plant When I run "devmon --readbbhosts -vvv" i get: [hobbit@gsonc-spg-ops-1 configs]$ /opt/devmon/devmon --readbbhosts -vvv [07-09-23@23:15:06] SNMP querying all hosts in bb-hosts file, please wait... [07-09-23@23:15:06] Unknown vendor in model() option for gsonc-spg- valere-1 [07-09-23@23:15:06] Querying pre-existing hosts Now I am unable to let devmon do an auto discovery on it. I am putting this in my bb-hosts file: x.x.x.x gsonc-spg-valere-1 # badconn:1:1:5 DEVMON:model(valere;xc2000) |
