Martin, I think the problem is that the UT Lille mirrors 1.2 sources are out of date. At the very least they don't match yours at ftp.hotze.com. Your list of files seems to correspond with what the 1.2 release wants in the md5sum.lst so I'm going to try again using your ftp server (which isn't part of update_src). Thanks, Reid. Digging a little deeper ...
I ran md5sum -c md5sum.lst (just like update_src does) and
noted that there are apparently 120 missing or mis-named
source files. For example, I have this file:
zip232.tar.gz,
but the md5sum.lst expects the file to be named:
zip-2.3.2.tar.bz2.
There also seem to be files that don't match the correct
version. For example, while the md5sum.lst expects
this file:
bind-9.5.0-P1.tar.gz
my src directory contains this file:
bind-9.4.1-P1.tar.gz
Additionally several files are completely missing:
Dev86src-0.16.17.tar.gz
ImageMagick-6.4.1-8.tar.bz2
Given this situation, I'm inclined to believe I have sources
that are older than what the rel-1-2-patches build version
expects. This probably explains the numerous build failures
that I got when I attempted to build the system.
So, to be sure I'm doing this right, here's what I have:
lfssystem: lfssystem-cvs-20030127b-i486-stripped.tar.bz2
from:
ftp://ftp.univ-lille1.fr/pub/os/linux/distributions/devil-linux/devel/so
urces/lfssystem-for-DL-1.0_and_up/
build: checked out rel-1-2-patches with:
cvs -z3
-d:pserver:ano...@de...:/cvsroot/devil-linu
x co -r rel-1-2-patches build
src: obtained with update_src picking option 2 (UT Lille/France) which
I hope is the same location that I got lfssystem from. Note that
UT Lille/France is the only mirror that works for me. The others
have server side errors that I can't fix (I previously emailed about
this)
After checking out, I did "cvs update -d -P" and it updated nothing.
All this is according to strictly following the instructions in
The documentation on this page:
http://www.devil-linux.org/documentation/1.2.x/ch03s01.html
I am trying to RTFM, but it's just not working for me! :)
Hopefully this sounds familiar to you and you can tell me where
I'm going wrong.
Thanks,
Reid Spencer

Hi, me again, sorry to be a pain. New problem, I've been following a guide from here http://www.edendevelopments.co.uk/dlsetup. Now I've followed the instructions but I can't seem to get the Postfix bit to work. From near as I can tell, Postfix isn't starting properly but I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. Can someone please point me in the right direction, thanks. |

Hey,
do you mean as a guest or as host?
As a guest it should run almost everywhere, I personally have it running under the free VMWare server.
We currently do not support it as a host for virtualization, but I hope we get this added at some point (may be a while).

Heiko, I tried several of the FTP servers and many of them aren't working: * "Semmelweis Univ Med School", ftp://xenia.sote.hu/pub/mirrors/devil-linux/ (550) * "Centre de Technologie de l'Education" is just a link to ftp://ftp.devil-linux.org/ (on purpose?) * "TU Graz", ftp://ftp.tugraz.at/mirror/devil-linux/ (500) I tried TU Wein and that worked. Thanks, Reid. -----Original Message----- From: Heiko Zuerker [mailto:he...@zu...] Sent: Friday, October 17, 2008 12:39 PM To: dev...@li... Subject: Re: [Devil-Linux-discuss] FTP Password? Did you try the traditional "anonymous" as user & your email (or any really) as passwd? Hello, I'm trying to start work on building (and hopefully contributing) to DevilLinux. The instructions on the web site indicate that I should get the LFS build environment from this FTP server: ftp://ftp.devil-linux.org/pub/devel/sources/ However, when I go there I'm prompted for a username/password that I don't have. I searched this list for answers to this problem but didn't find anyone. Is this FTP server supposed to be publicly available? Reid Spencer Doyenz Inc. |

Hi, I think I understand what you're saying. The printer is an old HP Laserjet 4 on LPT1. I'm not quite sure why it thinks the 2 are different as windows is using the same driver for both instances. Hi, I've just upgraded my server to DL1.3 and all's been well until I wanted to get my printer to work. I've been following some instructions I've found on the net (the same ones I used with 1.2) but its saying cannot open '/dev/lpt0' - 'No such file or directory'. Has anybody any ideas what I need to do please?? |

Subject: [Devil-Linux-discuss] Two gateways hi all, I'm trying to set up two gateways on my 3-nic Devil-Linux box. One will serve two of the subnets of the LAN ( eth1 and eth2 ), whereas eth0 is assigned a public address with a different gateway and netmask (255.255.255.248). So basically anything that goes out from eth0 should then be redirected to eth0's gateway, rather than using the LAN's. I have tried different configurations but with no joy. Furthermore I?m using Firewall builder for compiling firewall rules, so hopefully that won't interfere with the configuration suggested. Accept my thanks in advance, as you'll help will be appreciated. The easiest way (from a console text config file approach) is to create the file /etc/sysconfig/nic/ifcfg-eth0:1 that has the following: DEVICE=eth0:1 ONBOOT=yes DHCP=no IP=100.1.2.3 NETMASK=255.255.255.224 Replacing IP and NETMASK w/ your settings. You can continue this pattern and create more "virtual interfaces" on eth0 by creating ifcfg-eth0:2, etc. On Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 12:43 PM, Luca Iacono <luc...@ho...>wrote: > > hi all, > > I've been trying to create virtual interfaces, or adding IP's to the same > physical interface if you like, with Firewall Builder but they don't seem to > be reachable. hi all, I've been trying to create virtual interfaces, or adding IP's to the same physical interface if you like, with Firewall Builder but they don't seem to be reachable. I believe my environment is quite commonplace. The firewall in question is behind an ADSL modem/router, which has been assigned 8 + 1 public addresses. As I have a server on the internal network that I'd like to be "visible" on the outside, I thought I'd create a virtual interface on the external one and nat it to the internal server address. but no luck so far. I'm using the latest version of DL. pls advice, your help will be very much appreciated. luca _________________________________________________________________ Discover Bird's Eye View now with Multimap from Live Search http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/111354026/direct/01/ |
