Hey guys, a question for you: We use a gcc which is compiled for a i486 and all his libraries and whatever else are compiled for i486. Is it possible to create with this compiler e.g. i686 code? -- cu Heiko http://www.devil-linux.org |

Of course there is a ram difference if all modules are compiled in - the kernel get's bigger with each module. There might be a slight performance increase if the modules are not loaded as modules. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock |

This email is to inform you of release '1.11a24' of 'cdrecord' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/cdrecord/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release now avoids a core dump with CD Text mode if a .inf file is missing for Cdrecord, includes better TOC handling in cdda2wav, and now supports GNU Hurd. Project description: Cdrecord creates home-burned CDs with a CD-R/CD-RW recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications. Cdrecord supports CD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc and ATAPI/mmc compliant drives should also work. Supported features include IDE/ATAPI, parallel-port, and SCSI drives, audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed CDs, full multi-session support, CD-RWs (rewritable), TAO, DAO and human-readable error messages. Cdrecord includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD-writers. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. This email is to inform you of release '1.75-pre2' of 'Syslinux' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/syslinux/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version adds ISOLINUX workarounds for two different broken El Torito (CD-ROM) BIOSes. Project description: SYSLINUX is a boot loader for the Linux operating system which operates off of MS-DOS floppies. It is intended to simplify first-time installation of Linux, rescue disks, and other uses for boot floppies. A SYSLINUX floppy can be manipulated using standard MS-DOS (or any other OS that can access an MS-DOS filesystem) tools once it has been created, and requires only a ~ 8K DOS program or ~ 16K Linux program to create it in the first place. It also includes PXELINUX, a program to boot off a network server using a boot PROM compatible with the Intel PXE (Pre-Execution Environment) specification, ISOLINUX, a program to boot off ISO 9660 CD-ROMs in native mode, and MEMDISK, a tool to boot legacy operating systems (e.g. DOS) using a Linux boot loader regardless of medium. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. BUT is it save to do it this way or can a module hang the machine because it accesses the wrong IO-memory? If we only support PCI SCSI cards I think it could be save to do it this way because via the PCI registry a driver can check if a supported card (PCI id) is there. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock |
