This email is to inform you of release '2.00-pre2' of 'Syslinux' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/syslinux/ The changes in this release are as follows: API support for external programs, such as menu front ends. External programs can be 16- or 32-bit code. Project description: SYSLINUX is a boot loader for the Linux operating system which operates off of MS-DOS floppies. It is intended to simplify first-time installation of Linux, rescue disks, and other uses for boot floppies. A SYSLINUX floppy can be manipulated using standard MS-DOS (or any other OS that can access an MS-DOS filesystem) tools once it has been created, and requires only a ~ 8K DOS program or ~ 16K Linux program to create it in the first place. It also includes PXELINUX, a program to boot off a network server using a boot PROM compatible with the Intel PXE (Pre-Execution Environment) specification, ISOLINUX, a program to boot off ISO 9660 CD-ROMs in native mode, and MEMDISK, a tool to boot legacy operating systems (e.g. DOS) using a Linux boot loader regardless of medium. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. Sincerely, freshmeat.net |

Hello, I am finally installing the Linux Society network and we have been
raiding old computers for nics.
I have been able to configure the PCI cards w/ no problems, I boot w/ redhat,
get the information from modules.conf and add that to the appropriate
ifcfg-eth* file.
All of them have been "tulip."
I tried that with this old ne compatable pnp card and the boottime error was
that I had to supply the 0x100 type number for the ne.o module.
How do I do this ?? I would also be grateful to know how to do this for debian
as well, as this machine will be the support compiler for our DL packages.
TIA, John
