This email is to inform you of release '2.5.4' of 'libmcrypt' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/libmcrypt/ The changes in this release are as follows: By default, all algorithms are now included in the main library instead of being dynamic modules. Several other cleanups and fixes were made. Project description: Libmcrypt is a library which provides a uniform interface to several symmetric encryption algorithms. It is intended to have a simple interface to access encryption algorithms in ofb, cbc, cfb, and ecb modes. The algorithms it supports are DES, 3DES, RIJNDAEL, Twofish, IDEA, GOST, CAST-256, ARCFOUR, SERPENT, SAFER+, and more. The algorithms and modes are also modular so you can add and remove them on the fly without recompiling the library. This email is to inform you of release '3.1.4' of 'procps' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/procps/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release fixes the bug that changed every "3" character in top's command-line display and data entry into a space. The %CPU values in top should be a bit more reliable now. RPM generation now works. The copyrights have been updated, as required by the GPL and LGPL. Project description: procps is a package of utilities which includes ps, vmstat, top, w, skill, snice, pgrep, pkill, free, sysctl, pmap, uptime, and kill. These utilities report what is running, who is logged in, how long the system has been running, and what is using up memory. This email is to inform you of release '1.9.8-rc2' of 'grsecurity' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/grsecurity/ The changes in this release are as follows: A shared memory chroot restriction was added. Two flags which provide automatic local attack response have been added to the ACL system, along with a read-only ptrace flag, and a flag that ensures a process cannot execute any trojaned code. The PaX VM mirroring code has been completely rewritten. /proc restrictions have been redesigned, the IP process correlation code has been improved, and gradm supports more syslog applications. Project description: grsecurity is a complete security system for Linux 2.4 that implements a detection/prevention/containment strategy. It prevents most forms of address space modification, confines programs with least privilege via its process-based MAC system, hardens syscalls, and provides many of the OpenBSD randomness features. It was written for performance, ease-of-use, and security. The MAC system has an intelligent learning-mode, and all of grsecurity supports a feature that logs the IP of the attacker that causes an alert or audit. This email is to inform you of release '0.22' of 'VServer' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/vserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: A new kernel patch is available: kernel 2.4.19ctx-15. Now you can exclude a few directories. Only the directory structure will be copied. When cloning a vserver, you can generate new sshd private keys. The IPROOT entry in the vserver configuration file now supports one netmask per entry. A vserver does not use its own init process unless fakeinit is used. When using vbuild to clone a vserver, you can use the --excldir option repeatedly to exclude some files. Project description: VServer virtual servers operate like a normal Linux server, but allow many independent servers to be run simultaneously in one box. These can involve normal services such as telnet, mail, Web, and SQL servers - in most cases using a standard configuration. The services are unaware of the virtual server concept. Each virtual server has its own user account database and root password. Each vserver uses standard packages and runs at the same speed as a non-VServer installation. Hey guys, unfortunately the XFS patches conflict with the GRSecurity patches. Since I have not enough time to get that fixed after every update, the main DL ISO will have no XFS support anymore. Don't get me wrong, the XFS stuff will remain in the build system and you still can create your own customized version with XFS. -- cu Heiko We are Penguin, Resistance is futile! http://www.devil-linux.org |
