We could also do this version: openssh <- normal build script openssh.config <- stuff for make menuconfig openssh.help <- help text for make menuconfig To get rid of the perfomance issue, I would create out of the file *.config and *.help the 2 big file Configure, Configure.help . This version wouldn't be the same mess as just the 2 big files in general... I think I'll do that version. cya Heiko |

Hey, as you probably recognized, after the latest imrpovements to the build system one new problem came up: "make menuconfig" is really slow now. I was thinking a while and the only solution I found so far is the way it's done in the Linux Kernel: One file, e.g. Configure, which holds all the "menuadd" statements. It would also be time to add a help system ( Configure.help ). This should solve the performance problems and I would also add the profiles function. Any comments? Regards Heiko |

This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.1.4' of 'Linux Virtual Server' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/linuxvirtualserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: ipvsadm has been updated to version 1.23 so that it can display the counter of persistent connections by "ipvsadm -Ln --persistent-conn". A counter of persistent connections per real server has been added. The overhead ratio of active/inactive connections has been changed from 50 to 256 in the least connection scheduler. The unnecessary Docdir setting in ipvsadm.spec.in has been removed. Project description: The Linux Virtual Server Project is an Open Source project to cluster many real servers together into a highly available, high-performance virtual server. The LVS handles connections from clients and passes them on the the real servers (so-called Layer 4 switching) and can virtualize almost any TCP or UDP service, like HTTP, HTTPS, NNTP, FTP, DNS, ssh, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, etc. It is fully transparent to the client accessing the virtual service. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.0.9' of 'Postfix' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/postfix/ The changes in this release are as follows: This is a low-priority patch, and is needed only for sites that disable Postfix input MIME processing, which is turned on by default. The SMTP client did not deliver a partial last line when someone submitted 8BITMIME mail not ending in a newline via /usr/sbin/sendmail while MIME input processing was turned off, and MIME 8bit->7bit conversion was requested upon delivery. Project description: Postfix is an attempt to provide an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program. Postfix attempts to be fast, easy to administer, and hopefully secure, while at the same time being sendmail compatible enough to not upset your users. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.04' of 'Syslinux' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/syslinux/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version fixes a serious MEMDISK corruption problem in 2.03, adds large block support to PXELINUX, and resurrects the no-mtools installer for SYSLINUX as an alternative. Project description: SYSLINUX is a collection of boot loaders for the Linux operating system which operates off MS-DOS floppies, network servers using PXE firmware, or from CD-ROMs. It is intended to simplify first-time installation of Linux, rescue disks, and other uses for boot floppies. A SYSLINUX floppy can be manipulated using standard MS-DOS (or any other OS that can access an MS-DOS filesystem) tools once it has been created; and requires only a very small DOS or Linux program to create in the first place. It also includes MEMDISK, a tool to boot legacy operating systems from nontraditional media like PXE or CD-ROM. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.0.8' of 'Postfix' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/postfix/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release adds safety mechanisms for problems that happen rarely but that can have puzzling effects. Postfix processes now abort when given a net/mask pattern with a non-zero host portion instead of risking to become an open mail relay. Also, a workaround for file system clock drift that caused Postfix to ignore new mail has been implemented. Project description: Postfix is an attempt to provide an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.3.11' of 'xinetd' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/xinetd/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release fixes memory leaks introduced in 2.3.10, makes tcpmux work again, corrects bind directives in the defaults section, and adds numerous code cleanups. Project description: xinetd is a replacement for inetd, the internet services daemon. Anybody can use it to start servers that don't require privileged ports because xinetd does not require that the services in its configuration file be listed in /etc/services. It can do access control on all services based on the address of the remote host, time of access, connection attempts, or process limits. Access control works on all services, whether multi-threaded or single-threaded and for both the TCP and UDP protocols. xinetd supports both internal access control, and the use of the libwrap library. IPv6 with access control is also supported. It can redirect service requests to other machines, and has the standard built in services, including tcpmux. This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.0.8' of 'Linux Virtual Server' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/linuxvirtualserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version changes the overhead ratio of active/ inactive connections from 50 to 256 in the least- connection scheduler and the weighted least-connection scheduler. It tidies up the code in ip_vs_conn.c and ip_vs_core.c, and is changed to initialize the sltimer_jiffies with the system jiffies in the IPVS slow timer code. It adds the description of the --sort option in the ipvsadm command help, and tidies up the ipvsadm.c code a little bit. The unnecessary Docdir setting in the ipvsadm.spec.in was removed. Project description: The Linux Virtual Server Project is an Open Source project to cluster many real servers together into a highly available, high-performance virtual server.
