This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.01' of 'Linux FreeS/WAN' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/freeswan/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release is almost exactly the same as 2.00 except for a change to the Opportunistic Encryption (OE) protocol. This change is a change to DNS Resource record useage and thus a serious change to the protocol, we suggest that all OE users upgrade to 2.01 to be compatible with both old (while they last) and new OE sites. Project description: Linux FreeS/WAN provides IPSEC (IP Security, which is both encryption and authentication) kernel extensions and an IKE (Internet Key Exchange, keying and encrypted routing daemon) as well as various rc scripts and documentation. It is known to interoperate with other IPSEC and IKE system already deployed by other vendors such as OpenBSD, Cisco, or CheckPoint. It also features Opportunistic Encryption, subnet extrusion, and with the appropriate patches interops nicely with Microsoft Windows XP/2000 using X.509 certificates. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. Hi! I just booted the latest cvs snapshot of devil and it would not want to initialize the empty vfat floppy (image) in vmware. I had to reformat the floppy (image) to ext2 to get it going. The info printed out is: searching for configuration media VFS: Can't find ext2 filesystem on dev fd(2,0) Unable to identify CD-ROM format. Please insert Configuration Media and press the 'any-key' First I thought that the VFS warning should be normal as I know that the floppy is vfat, but then I tried it with a ext2 formated floppy. I see that we now have vfat as module, but I think it does not get loaded. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock ____________________________________________________________________ Friedrich Lobenstock Linux Services Lobenstock URL: http://www.lsl.at/ Email: fl...@fl... ____________________________________________________________________ |

Hi! May I ask everybody to extend this list so we know what's going on and we don't start working on the same stuff? Up to now I know or I think to know about the following work that is either planned, already in the works or ongoing work: * IPv6 and bonding by Francois Dumont * DHCP server support for VLAN interfaces by Thomas Eder * telnet client by Thomas Eder * ipac-ng in general by Friedrich Lobenstock * patching pcwd watchdog into kernel by Friedrich Lobenstock * pwlib, openh323, gnugk(, bison) by Bruce Smith * setup script by Bruce Smith * Micro Devil Linux by John Kiss So that's it what I know from the mailinglist and from private mails. Please mail me in private and I will update the list from above and post it on devil-developer. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock ____________________________________________________________________ Friedrich Lobenstock Linux Services Lobenstock URL: http://www.lsl.at/ Email: fl...@fl... ____________________________________________________________________ |

Hi!
Just commited the bridging support contributed by Thomas Eder. So if
you want to give it a try checkout the latest CVS.
Someone doing the documentation please update the documentation about
what is supported now in regards to networking:
1) 'normal' Ethernet LAN with static routes, DHCP client
2) VLAN support with static routes
3) bridging support
For all possible configurations please take a look at the example
config files provided (for the numbers see above):
(1) etc/sysconfig/nic/ifcfg-eth0.sample
(2) etc/sysconfig/nic/ifcfg-eth1.sample
etc/sysconfig/nic/ifcfg-vlan100.sample
(3) etc/sysconfig/nic/ifcfg-eth2.sample
etc/sysconfig/nic/ifcfg-eth3.sample
etc/sysconfig/nic/ifcfg-br0.sample
If any config file depends on any other there's a reference a the
top of each file.
Anything else in the documentation regarding interface and networking
configuration we could improve?
Someone willing to send me a patch that integrates wlan into this
schema?
The following stuff is in the works:
* IPv6 and bonding by Francois Dumont
* DHCP server support for VLAN interfaces by Thomas Eder
--
MfG / Regards
Friedrich Lobenstock

ok guys, my ipv 6support script, and bonding support are about to be ready. I've added support for bonding : SLAVE ans MASTER variables can now be used in ifcfg-* files. But you have to add "ifenslave" in sbin. Concerning ipv6, now you can put : IPV6ADDR= to assign a v6 addr IPV6ADDR_SECONDARIES="* * *" to add more addresses IPV6_AUTOCONF=yes or no , so it will get an address on its own (a bit like DHCP, but better). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any comment, any idea? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Durk |

I'm writing my script so that ipv6 addresses are put in the ifcfg-ethxxx=20 files. In redhat, they put a AUTOCONF variable, but i jsut saw this : /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/eth1/autoconf which is set to 1. What is the exact purpose of this variable? This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.1.14' of 'Cyrus IMAP Server' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/cyrusimapserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release focuses on fixing a number of small bugs throughout the server, including handling of badly-formed MIME messages, better handling of altnamespace and unixhierarchysep in Murder enviornments, and correct handling of literals in the imclient library. New features include the ability to apply cyradm commands to aggregate mailbox sets. Project description: The Cyrus IMAP server is generally intended to be run on sealed systems, where normal users are not permitted to log in. The mailbox database is stored in parts of the filesystem that are private to Cyrus. All user access to mail is through the IMAP, POP3, or KPOP protocols. The private mailbox database design gives the server large advantages in efficiency, scalability, and administratability. Multiple concurrent read/write connections to the same mailbox are permitted. The server supports access control lists on mailboxes and storage quotas on mailbox hierarchies, multiple SASL mechanisms, and the Sieve mail filtering language. Hello everyone, I am sorry that my last E-mail is too long. I will shorten this ito three point: 1. What percentage of profit you would like to recieve from us(10-15%)? Please discuss with your project members and reply by Friday. 2. Project Area open for all developer. Just register and use it! 3. How about starting a project to develop an online "step-by-step-illustrated guide" for ALL Linux Live CD user? It will ease their fear in using Linux Live CD. The rest are my idea for company project. Please use our project area for these project, LinuxLIveCD will develop these idea into product and possible sell it under GPL license, 65% of revenue will be distributed among the involving developers. 4. How about develop a RW-DVD/CD Linux Live CD Distro that will auto-update? This is to resolve the problem of un-upgradeble Live CD. 5. Project Linux Hardware, burnt a pre-built distro into flash memory just like domlinux.com.tw so people buy a Hardware with Linux already installed and fine-tuned for whatever purpose. No harddrive NECESSARY! 6. Project Linux-USB: plug your USB drive/memory card/flash in your computer, you have a whole OS to serve your purpose ready-to-go! No more harddrive and floppy. 7. A Project to link all Linux help site together so people will get help 24 hours a day on Linux issue all over the world. Also ORGANIZE the vast information of everything Linux in an easy-to-understand manner. 8. How about a Live CD Distro made for designing website? Or it host a website accessible in some ways as long as the Live CD is running? 9. How to REMOTE support your user? I suggest installed vnc or some ware that can be remotely activate(ONLY by the distributor) in Live CD so when there is an issue, helper can DIRECTLY look at the screen of whoever ask the question. S/he may remotely resolve the issue for him/her, or demonstrate on site how to resolve it. 10. Imagine all Linux user devote a portion of their CPU time in protected mode to Linux developer, and any Developer can see INSTANTLY the result of his command will be execute over a variety of platform and architure. How much it will speed up the prcoess of driver writing, beta testing program...etc? (In fact that is what I suspect MS-Win has been doing for a long time....) All we need is a special program.... 11 Apply 10 into Live CD. Regards, Euler Project Manager and Admin LinuxLiveCD.com |

Again, in LinuxLiveCD.com we see it as our mission to promote Linux commercially(like Michael Robertson). And believe this is a better way to bring Linux en mass. Can you imagine a world WITHOUT Redhat, Mandrake, Suse or many commercial vendor/packager of Linux, how many Linux user will be there? If it wasn't one of them, I myself won't be using Linux(and over 99% of people) at the first place, let alone doing that. If there isn't any profit, IBM, Oracle, PeopleSoft won't be on our side. There is NOTHING wrong with doing business itself, the ONLY thing maybe wrong is the way we conduct our business. We are open to your opinion on that. Remember, reply me by Friday! Good luck with your project! Coridially, Euler Project Manager LinuxLiveCD.com Hong Kong P.S. The Project Area is open for ANY Linux Live CD developer to use WITHOUT any pre-condition.
