Hey, the latest changes to the initrd and the usage of the loop mounted zisofs should enable us to boot from almost any device without changes to the init system. Only the save-config part will most likely need some "adjustments". Another benefit is of course, that the zisofs image is much smaller and we can now use i.e. 256 MB PenDrives for the full DL and still have a lot of free space left. cya Heiko |

Unfortunately the reboot command (busybox) appears to do nothing. I tried manually creating the link to busybox. I tried using the full path "/sbin/reboot". I also tried the busybox commands "halt" and "poweroff". All failed in vmware 4. To make it appear a little nicer, I removed the "exit" command after the reboot command in the loop so it just hangs now instead of returning to linuxrc and crashing the kernel. The "exit" command should not be needed anyway if the reboot command works. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Heiko Zuerker (smiley73) Date: 2003-11-08 16:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=112133 workaround: we don't use it anymore ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410643&aid=797417&group_id=34096 |

I tried making and booting from a USB flash after the grub update. The menu works fine, it boots fine, but there is no wallpaper on the boot menu. The grub patch for the backdrop/splash/wallpaper needs to be applied. Another weird thing is I booted a SMP CPU, on a P4-HT which should show up as a dual CPU box, but it only had one penguin during boot, and /proc/cpuinfo only showed one CPU. Is there a kernel option for hyperthreading we need to turn on? - BS |

While providing the same interface and meeting RFC1179 requirements, the implementation is completely new and provides support for the following features: lightweight (no databases needed) lpr, lpc, and lprm programs; dynamic redirection of print queues; automatic job holding; highly verbose diagnostics; multiple printers serving a single queue; client programs do not need to run SUID root; greatly enhanced security checks; and a greatly improved permission and authorization mechanism ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410646&aid=837885&group_id=34096 |
