Hey,
I would suggest you do it similar to wait I do with the kernel patches,
since this is better when you have to apply multiple patches.
I have one tarball kernel-patches.tar.bz2 which I keep up to date.
Here are the magic lines (you find it in the file prepare):
if [ ! -f devil-linux-kernel-patches.done ]; then
touch devil-linux-kernel-patches.done
for PATCH in $(ls $WORKDIR/kernel-patches/* 2>
/dev/null )
do
echo applying patch: $PATCH
patch -p1 -i $PATCH || exit 1
done
fi
When the patches need to be installed in a specific order, just rename them
with a number in front:
01_first_patch
02_second_patch
and so on

Hey all I'm working on building l2tp and there are a number of patch files (7) available for the current version - what I'm wondering is how to handle these patch files from a DL build perspective? These 7 patches are available from 1 location, but as 7 separate files. They are required for successful operation of l2tp. Looking at the other scripts, some patches are handled in in a separate build script (x509patch for example), others are handled in the program build script itself (freeswan-alg for example). How should I handle these? put all the scripts in a separate patch directory (off of build/src) and do the patching in the l2tp build script? - this is my preferred method, or modify the patches and make it into 1 huge patchfile, or make a separate build script just for the patches, or ??? Thanks Martin |

Hi I have made and tested the scripts for "screen"=20 (http://www.guckes.net/screen/) a terminal multiplexer. =46rom the homepage - "SCREEN allows you to switch between programs and yet use just only one=20 "terminal". So you can write texts, look at emails and newsgroups, read=20 webpages, download files, all at the same time - but with a window for each= =20 program. " I find screen extremely useful for remote admin of any linux box, especiall= y=20 the ability to detach from the screen session and then reconnect at a later= =20 time with everything still running. Let me know Martin |

This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.8' of 'GNU Automake' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/automake/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version does a better job of guessing default source names. 'ar' flags have been moved to a $ARFLAGS variable. Support for generating HTML documentation (with texinfo 4.0+) was added. Rules for rebuilding makefiles have been improved. Various other features were added and bugs fixed. Project description: Automake is a tool for automatically generating Makefiles compliant with the GNU Coding Standards. It was inspired by the 4.4BSD make and include files, but aims to be portable and to conform to the GNU standards for Makefile variables and targets. Automake is a Perl script. The input files are called Makefile.am. The output files are called Makefile.in; They are intended for use with Autoconf. Automake requires certain things to be done in your configure.in. This package also includes the "aclocal" program. aclocal is a program to generate an 'aclocal.m4' based on the contents of 'configure.in'. It is useful as an extensible, maintainable mechanism for augmenting autoconf. This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.22' of 'Linux-VServer' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/vserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: A nasty SMP locking issue that was present since the early days was fixed. Project description: Linux-VServer allows you to create virtual private servers and security contexts which operate like a normal Linux server, but allow many independent servers to be run simultaneously in one box at full speed. All services, such as ssh, mail, Web, and databases, can be started on such a VPS, without modification, just like on any real server. Each virtual server has its own user account database and root password and doesn't interfere with other virtual servers. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.08' of 'Syslinux' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/syslinux/ The changes in this release are as follows: This is mostly a collection of some minor feature enhancements, with some bugfixes thrown in. Perhaps the most important is a largely untested module to chainboot arbitrary local drives/partitions. Project description: SYSLINUX is a collection of boot loaders for the Linux operating system which operates off MS-DOS floppies, network servers using PXE firmware, or from CD-ROMs. It is intended to simplify first-time installation of Linux, rescue disks, and other uses for boot floppies. A SYSLINUX floppy can be manipulated using standard MS-DOS (or any other OS that can access an MS-DOS filesystem) tools once it has been created; and requires only a very small DOS or Linux program to create in the first place. It also includes MEMDISK, a tool to boot legacy operating systems from nontraditional media like PXE or CD-ROM.
