Does postfix support milters? If so, it might be worth adding this program to DL: http://freshmeat.net/projects/noattach/?topic_id=29 It only mentions sendmail w/milter support in the docs and I've never used postfix myself, so I don't know if it's even possible, but it might be worth a try. It's a C program that will reject emails certain extensions (configurable). I know people who are using this program to stop the influx of the latest email virus by rejecting all email that contain executable M$ extensions. I know of a couple places that their virus scanner was using so much CPU scanning all the viruses it brought it to a crawl. Adding this milter solved the problem because it takes a lot less CPU cycles to reject emails containing certain extensions (before virus scanning the rest of the emails). - BS |

For example, files in /etc/init.d/ should NOT be selected by default since they are most likely updates that should not be overwritten. - BS |

This email is to inform you about the release of version '0.94' of 'GNU GRUB' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/gnugrub/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release adds support for building on x86-64, toggling Gate A20 (due to problems with some BIOSes), QNX RTP in the GRUB shell, the initrd max address of a kernel header in Linux, and both 32- and 64-bit dev_t. It also includes a workaround for buggy BIOSes (notably HP Vectra series) that don't pass the boot drive correctly, and improves the manual significantly. It now displays "GNU GRUB" in the menu, instead of "GRUB". Project description: GNU GRUB is a Multiboot loader. It was derived from GRUB. It is an attempt to produce a bootloader for IBM PC-compatible machines that has both the capability to be friendly to beginning or otherwise non-technically interested users and the flexibility to help experts in diverse environments. It is compatible with FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD and Linux. It supports Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP and OS/2 via chain-loaders. It has a menu interface and a command-line interface. Hey, does anyone have a problem with it, when I pre-select all the files in upgrade-config per default? I just upgraded my server at home and it was still too much work. ;-) cu Heiko |

This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.3.6' of 'Linux-VServer' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/vserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: In this version, the core functionality was split into logical blocks and distributed over separate files. XFS support was extended, and the next generation procfs finalized. Syscall commands for inode attributes and uts or context naming have been added. The memory accounting and resource limit patch was included. Project description: Linux-VServer allows you to create virtual private servers and security contexts which operate like a normal Linux server, but allow many independent servers to be run simultaneously in one box at full speed. All services, such as ssh, mail, Web, and databases, can be started on such a VPS, without modification, just like on any real server. Each virtual server has its own user account database and root password and doesn't interfere with other virtual servers. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.6.12' of 'lftp' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/lftp/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release fixes put over HTTPS, spinning in bg mode when an external program was still running at the time of moving to the background, and compilation with the IRIX MIPSPro compiler. Project description: lftp is a sophisticated command line based file transfer program. Supported protocols include FTP, HTTP, and FISH. It has a multithreaded design allowing you to issue and execute multiple commands simultaneosly or in the background. It also features mirroring capabilities and will reconnect and continue transfers in the event of a disconnection. Also, if you quit the program while transfers are still in progress, it will switch to nohup mode and finish the transfers in the background. Additional protocols supported: FTP over HTTP proxy, HTTPS and FTP over SSL. There are lots of tunable parameters, including rate limitation, number of connections limitation and more. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.6.5' of 'Libxml' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/libxml/ The changes in this release are as follows: A lot of bugfixes have accumulated over the last month (XInclude, XPointer, validation, and XPath). The XML parser speed has been improved. Project description: Libxml is the XML C library developed for the Gnome project. The library code is portable (to Linux, Unix, Windows, embedded systems, etc.) and modular; most of the extensions can be compiled out. Libxml implements a number of existing standards related to markup languages, including the XML standard, Namespaces in XML, XML Base, Relax NG, RFC 2396, XPath, XPointer, HTML4, XInclude, SGML Catalogs, and XML Catalogs. In most cases, libxml tries to implement the specifications in a relatively strict way. To some extent, it provides support for the following specifications, but doesn't claim to implement them: DOM, FTP client, HTTP client, and SAX2. Support for W3C XML Schemas is in progress. It includes xmllint, a command line XML validator.
