Can you write the Internal Serial or CRC? This games has 3 version, released in europe. I've checked the DEU-FRA-GER release and there is a very very fast flash but no corruption/flash on bottom screen. Picture added as proof.

Interesting behaviour on SVN4077 with "Advanced Bus-Level Timing" ON, using softrasterizer: start the game and enter the castle just behind Lillifee, then exit using the arrow in the bottom part of the bottom screen. Now both of the screen are black but the game isn't hanged (sound and touch work). If you try this bug with "Advanced Bus-Level Timing" turned OFF the game doesn't have such problem. I'll report this because i think it's a bug.

The graphical glitch from the original post is fixed.
DotterLeo's black screen issue is still present. In addition, when JIT is in use, the screens are black when Advanced Bus-Level Timing is either on or off. With Interpreter, the screens are black only when Advanced Bus-Level Timing is on -- the screens display correctly if Advanced Bus-Level Timing is off.
When JIT is enabled, the top screen flashes when the block size is 16 or greater. The top screen is fine if the block size is less than 16.

Fixed in DEU-FRA-GER
I have the Eng-Fre-German version
CRC 6C92FED1
Both version (mine and Nash679) are fixed if you disable the "Advanced Bus-Level Timing" feature. Better keep this open as test case for the future.

flashing top screen with enabled JIT (r4720)
Tested on r5121.
My original report from 2011-08-13 is still present on commit 242ccb2 from Github. If you do the same steps you will still get a black screen
