Using DBAN 2.3.0 I'm getting the error cat: can't open '/proc/cmdline': No such file or directory after selecting an option from the DBAN menu. This is on a newer Dell Latitude laptop (model 5270) with a 500 GB SATA hard drive. The solution I found online was to revert back to version 2.2.8 and modify the isolinux.cfg file to add acpi=off nousb to the kernel parameter lines. This worked on version 2.2.8 and 2.2.7 but NOT on 2.3.0. A google search shows that this issue is occurring for a lot of people with newer computers and DBAN 2.3.0.
Thank you for your post. I need to make the modification to Version 2.2.8. However, I,m not sure how to do it. Can you help me?
Thanks
if there is a way to fix this problem can you please put a link to it as i need to use this program.
For those still having this problem, this is what worked for me;
Use version 2.2.8, extract to device as normal
Modify ./isolinux.cfg (with notepad or other notepad like software)
Change every line with: "KERNEL dban.bzi"
to
"KERNEL dban.bzi acpi=off nousb"
Save file
Use DBAN as you normally would
THANK YOU!!! You´re a genius!!!
