The first request is wrong: there is no cn=people root, but the second 
error is a DavMail bug:
"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/x0e230003" = Charles%
=> uid is an int value, the request with Charles% fails

This bug is already fixed in subversion.
