the catalog is located at the end of the archive (usually it fits in the 
last slice), isolating the catalogue would not have helped anyway, and r 
it can guess the filename, permission, ownership, dates and so on.

I'm sorry, but there is not much thing to do with your 6 first slices if 
you miss the 7th and last one.

Are you sure the 7th slice is lost?
