startup error - seems to be a font problem

Whenever I start CVW from my Linux (RedHat 7.2) box, I get, in multiple copies,

Font specified in font.properties not found [--symbol-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific]

How do I fix this? Where is font.properties?

  This is a known problem with Java on Linux. The FAQ page http://www.jguru.com/faq/view.jsp?EID=229424 will show you a couple of ways to fix this.
