Bugs item #629930, was opened at 2002-10-28 16:07 You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509508&aid=629930&group_id=65029 Category: Config Files Group: None >Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Assigned to: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Summary: Not spotting Substitution event Initial Comment: Game: Liverpool 1 - 0 Chelsea Played on October 6 Henchoz substitution not picked up, was in the commenatry. Resulted in being awarded 5 Points but should have been 0 as he left the field before 90 mins. Therefore by default Traore who came on was not in the results. Probably a problem with the Regular expression matching substituions. Needs investigating ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Date: 2002-10-28 18:24 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=88713 In the Liverpool game above the follwoing substtution was missed: 74:26 Shot by Gianfranco Zola (Chelsea) right-footed from right channel (30 yards), over the bar. Goal kick taken long by Jerzy Dudek (Liverpool). Liverpool substitution: Danny Murphy replaced by Salif Alassane Diao (tactical). the Henchoz one (mentioned above) is: 38:30 Cross by Bruno Cheyrou (Liverpool), clearance by Marcel Desailly (Chelsea). Shot by Sami Hyypia (Liverpool) drilled right-footed from right channel (30 yards), save (tipped over) by Carlo Cudicini (Chelsea). Outswinging corner from right by-line taken right-footed by Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) to near post, clearance by Mario Stanic (Chelsea). Liverpool substitution: Stephane Henchoz replaced by Djimi Traore (injury). It seems that if the first sentence does not contain a substitution then none are picked up, if the first sentence does contain a substitution then all are picked up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Date: 2002-10-28 16:49 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=88713 Also: Newcastle 2 - 1 West Brom Played on October 5 Aron Hughes of Newcastle got 2 points for appearance, it was noted as an event in tab4 twice. Once for Hughes of Newcastle and then of Hughes of West Brom who came on as a sub in the 67th min. This substitution was missed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Date: 2002-10-28 16:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=88713 Also happens in Blackburn Rovers 1 - 2 Tottenham Hotspur Played on October 5 Steffan Iverson came on as a substitute and assisted in the second goal, the substitution was missed but he was credited given the points for an assist. He did not get an apperance point which was correct. This means the substitution was missed. He didn't get the appearance point because the system thinks he didn't come on rather than because it worked out the time correctly. This should be solved when the substitution fix above. However, it does make me think of a useful sanity check. If a player is thought to have not played but they are credited with points then we should create a warning to force manual checking. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509508&aid=629930&group_id=65029 |

Lazy consensus kicked in on the Long Term plans document and mission statement. I have put the document and the new mission statement online. Of course nothing is fixed. Comments are still welcome. Ross |

I've added ANT support to the project. For those who don't know what this means ANT is the build tool that Centipede extends. It has been around much longer than Centipede and therefore has many more users. However, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Centipede has. I have provided minimal Ant support simply because many prospective developers will already have ANT installed and lowering the barriers to entry for these people has to be a good thing. They will move to Centipede as and when they see fit. The second reason for doing this is that the two most common tasks when developing an application are to compile it and to run it. FOr these two tasks Centipede adds very little over and above a vanilla verion of Ant, however, Ant is much faster to start up. Therefore, I have added support for these two tasks in ant. For those who have installed Centipede but not Ant you need not install Ant separately, it comes as part of Centipede. I recommend that you use: ant compile and ant run instead of cent compile and cent run from now on, it will make your work faster! Ross |

Now let this be a lesson to us. One of the hardest things to do in Open Source is keep the docs up to date. It's a job no-one wants to do. I propose that we adopt a policy of accepting no new feature submissions in CVS unless they are accompaniied by documentation and a test harnesses to ensure they work. If we are in agreement I will add this to the constitution. Stuart, I now have full access (although I haven't configured WinCVS fully again yet). I am, however, able to log into cvs.sourceforge.net using my SSH key rather than supplying my password. I think you're going to need to start again at the key generation stage and generate an SSH2 key NOT SSH1 (actually as a precaution for the future I've put one of each in my public key area on sourceforge). After the required six hours run up pageant make sure it is contained in a folder 'C:\PUTTY' and load both of your keys into it then open a DOS box and type : C:\PUTTY\plink.exe -v smg...@sh... echo "SSH public key is in place. You should get something like: Looking up host "shell.sourceforge.net" Connecting to 216.136.171.203 port 22 Server version: SSH-1.99-OpenSSH_3.1p1 We believe remote version has SSH2 RSA padding bug We claim version: SSH-2.0-PuTTY-Snapshot-2002-10-18 Using SSH protocol version 2 Doing Diffie-Hellman group exchange Doing Diffie-Hellman key exchange Host key fingerprint is: ssh-dss 1024 xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx Using username "leverm". Pageant is running. Requesting keys. Pageant has 1 SSH2 keys Trying Pageant key #0 Authenticating with public key "le...@us..." from agent Sending Pageant's response Access granted Opened channel for session Started a shell/command Server sent command exit status 0 SSH public key is in place. Notice that it is using SSH2 not SSH1 (don't you just love out of date instructions!) Now, if you type : plink.exe -v smg...@cv... echo "SSH public key is in place." You should get something like : Looking up host "cvs.sourceforge.net" Connecting to 216.136.171.202 port 22 Server version: SSH-1.99-OpenSSH_3.1p1 We believe remote version has SSH2 RSA padding bug We claim version: SSH-2.0-PuTTY-Snapshot-2002-10-18 Using SSH protocol version 2 Doing Diffie-Hellman group exchange Doing Diffie-Hellman key exchange Host key fingerprint is: ssh-dss 1024 xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx Using username "leverm". Pageant has 1 SSH2 keys Trying Pageant key #0 Authenticating with public key "le...@us..." from agent Sending Pageant's response Access granted Opened channel for session Started a shell/command Server sent command exit status 1 Welcome to cvs.sourceforge.net This is a restricted Shell Account You cannot execute anything here. Again it's using my SSH2 key, not SSH1 This does mean that you have to configure WinCVS slighly differently than originally posted on the sourceforge website...there's a bit about SSH2 and WinCVS at the bottom of the page. I'll try that myself either later today or tomorrow, but at least progress has been made....finally! Bugs item #626539, was opened at 2002-10-21 20:44 You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509508&aid=626539&group_id=65029 Category: Interface Group: None Status: Open Resolution: Accepted Priority: 8 Submitted By: Michael Lever (leverm) Assigned to: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Summary: Windows Error message when parsing Initial Comment: When a file or url is parsed (using FantasyFootballSportsModule-0.0.1-alpha1-dev- 200210211904 and before) under Winows an error message is displayed, for example : Problem with shortcut: Unable to open "http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/hi/english/static/footba ll/statistics/teams/a/aston_villa/live_hi.stm" or Problem with shortcut: Unale to open file "/C:/Fanfoot/ARS v SUN.htm" However, this does not appear to affect the running of the program itself as the file/url is successfully parsed anyway. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Michael Lever (leverm) Date: 2002-10-30 03:54 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=631335 Just tested as requested and http:www.fanfoot.com is opened correctly in the default browser, so it appears that your suspicions are correct. However, I did attempt to test this with a file saved to hard disk, one copy buried deep in folders and subfolders and another copy in the root directory. The same error occurs on both files, but it appears to be a different bug. I have created a new bug for it (630866) and, when that is fixed I will test this bug again using two copies of a file saved to hard disk. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Date: 2002-10-29 22:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=88713 I have inspected the code and can see no logical reason for this bug happening. I suspect that it may have something to do with the length of the URL. Can you test this for me by typing in a shorter URL in the dialog box and clicking OK. Does it work or not? If it doesn;t work please provide the output you see in the DOS box. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Date: 2002-10-28 21:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=88713 This is useful information, it tells me exactly where the problem is. It seems that there is a slight different in the way the URL is being returned from the dialog boxes used to select a local file or remote URL and the way the debug menu (or test code) has the URLs hard coded. I will take a look at this ASAP as with this additional info I think the fix should be fairly obvious once I inpect the code. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Lever (leverm) Date: 2002-10-28 20:57 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=631335 More info : The Debug "Parse BBC Test 1" test file does not produce this error under Windows XP - the url is parsed correctly and the page itself is opened in the default internet browser. The problem is only demoinstrated on other files, either "live" url's or files saved locally. The url/file is parsed correctly, but the page is not loaded into the default browser. This may still be a problem with XP, but since the Debug test file works it may also be fixable in the module files. Portal L&F of the auth part of the site is not quite correct. Cricket sunlet is white. Navigation menu is too wide on the customise page. Clicking a link in the WIki Changes sunlet opens the wiki in the frame, when returning to the portal it opens the whole thing in the frame, resulting in two headears for the page. Portal admin page has wrong color header and the text refers to sunSpot not Fanfoot. This means that when the user first starts the application no preference files exist. The user therefore has to know what preferences they can set. It would be better if, when the application starts these preferences are looked for, and if necessary created. Thus when the user selects the edit preferences menu item they will not be presented with a blank sheet. If we make one of the preferences a version number then we only need to check the version number. If it is equal to or higher than the version we are execuring then we do not need to set the preferences. If it is lower, we can call a routine to add any additional preferences since that version. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509511&aid=630742&group_id=65029 |

The following announcement mails have been sent to related projects with which I am trying to generate a level of collaboartion: We have now launched our Community Sports Management System to Sourceforge (http://www.sf.net/projects/csms) and have released the first alpha version of our Fantasy Football Sports module. This release is our first public release and embodies an Automated Scoring System for fantasy sports games. This software *is not* ready for use in the live calculations as yet since it is in alpha form, that is it is undergoing rigourous testing. It is expected that all errors in this release will be in the configuration files rather than in the program code (now there's a bold claim!). Configuration of the module is through XML and XSL files so it should be esy to convert it to any other sport. Please take a look, perhaps it will solve your problem finding stats for your game. Using this system you can scrape the stats from any publically available source and then convert them to whatever format you require. I sent this to ffl (http://www.sf.net/projects/ffl) and to off (http://www.sf.net/projects/orf) If you know of any other open source sports developments let me know and I'll contact them to introduce our project to them. I didn;t realise we'd accidentally moved this discussion off the list. Anyway it is back here now, complete will a full history below if you want to catch up. If you want a > really crap mission statement then look at this : > Well I'm in the process of doing a release as I type so the current release is going out with the old mission state, but it is only an alpha release so no problem. What do other people think of Mikes suggestion (with my minor change): "The Community Sports Management System project aims to facilitate the online management of sporting seasons, bringing together its participants and encouraging collaboration between like-minded groups. In doing this we aim to promote the growth and development of sports clubs of all types and encourage the participation of all people whether they be players, organisers or supporters." Mike suggests taking out the second sentence in order to make it shorter, I'm not too keen on that as I think it is very important (expecially from a funding perspective - yes I do have my mind on some funding for this project - not in the near future though I'm afraid) Personally I'm +1 for keeping both sentences. Requesting keys. > Pageant has 0 SSH2 keys From the troubleshooting section of the document on SF: The above plink command says 'Pageant has 0 SSHx keys': This could mean one of three things. First, check to make sure that you have properly configured pageant. If you have configured pageant correctly, verify that you have not created a profile in PuTTY for 'cvs.sourceforge.net' -- profiles can modify the way that plink operates (delete any profiles you may have made for cvs.sourceforge.net). Finally, check to ensure that plink is referencing the correct key type. We suggested that you create a SSH1 RSA key -- if you instead created a SSH2 key, you will need to create a PuTTY profile to tell Plink to use the SSH2 protocol (SSH1 and SSH2 protocols are not compatible; you need to pick one or the other). > Keyboard-interactive authentication refused > le...@sh...'s password: > > > Mike L. > > >>-----Original Message----- >>From: csm...@li... >>[mailto:csm...@li...]On Behalf Of Ross >>Gardler >>Sent: 29 October 2002 16:18 >>To: csm...@li... >>Subject: Re: [csms-dev] Fully functioning CVS >> >> >>Mike L. wrote: >> >>>>Mike L. wrote: >>> >> >> >> >>>>When you say you are asked for your password, what is asking you for it? >>>>The CVS client? I still at the stage earlier to Mike, when doing the Testing of Automated Authentication I get nothing back! This is exactly where it was last week and no change has happened yet. You are actually connecting to the server using SSH. The problem is that pageant is not responding as it should. THe configuration is therefore a problem with pageant (at least that is my guess, remember I do not use windows so have not tested this). Since you are connecting by SSH the issue is *not* with your key. This has been set up correctly. I suspect that if you try and connect using WinCVS using the ext protocol instead of the pserver one you will be able to, but will be asked for your password. Explore your configuration of pageant. NB this is further than I got trying to set Stuarts machine up with Putty/Pageant and WinCVS. As usual doing on Linux was a breeze! I have got to this stage in the installation : http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=766&group_id=1#sshtest (Testing automated authentication). By this time Pageant is running and my private key is loaded in Pageant. I am asked for my password at stage 2 of this part of the installation. This is what happens when I go through all of the commands regardless : C:\PUTTY>plink.exe le...@sh... echo "SSH public key is in place." le...@sh...'s password:******* SSH public key is in place. C:\PUTTY>plink.exe le...@cv... echo "SSH public key is in place." le...@cv...'s password:******* Welcome to cvs.sourceforge.net This is a restricted Shell Account You cannot execute anything here. C:\PUTTY> As it says in the final line of the SSH tesing instructions, I should be ale to do these things without supplying my password, but on both occasions I had to in order to get any further. I was beginning to wonder if it's anything to do with running NAT behind a router, but I've forwarded the SSH port (port 22) to my PC and it's still not playing ball. Perhaps it should be a different port number? Mike L. |

This is one of those things that it's easier for you to fix than to tell me about it. One important thing though, have you managed to get CVS working using the SSH connection or only the pserver connection. The reason I ask is that it's much harder for you to make changes if you are only on the pserver connection.
