Feature Requests item #634998, was opened at 2002-11-07 14:36 Message generated for change (Settings changed) made by rgardler You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509511&aid=634998&group_id=65029 Category: Fantasy Sports Module Group: Next Release Status: Open Priority: 8 Submitted By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) >Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Collect score data for players Initial Comment: We need to collect data for individual players so that team scores and player stats can be generated. This is not currently scheduled until a later release, however, it will make testing considerably easier if implemened now. Data should be written to the player.xml file. Each game the player plays in should be contained in its own element, thus we can replace each element whenever the scores for that particular game are regenerated. For example: <player> <firstName>foo</firstName> ... <statistics> <game id="UniqueGameID"> <cleanSheet/> <assist> <normalTimeMinutes>23</normalTimeMinutes> ... <assist> <booking> ... </booking> </game> <game id="UniqueGameID"> <goalConceeded> ... </goalConceeded> </game> </statistics> </player> At a later date we can add the unofficial/official flags here. During testing this will be very useful if we create an XSL to extract all this information and publish it as a table (or even excel spreadsheet) so that Mike can then compare the auto generated results for the whole season against the manual ones in his spreadsheets. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Date: 2002-11-16 16:43 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=88713 The UID for the game is now recorded as an attribute of the event element. However, it can't do this at the moment as the scores.xml document does not include information about the game from which the score was extracted. This should be passed on as an attribute of the event element. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509511&aid=634998&group_id=65029 |

For example, we could classigy errors as: javadoc errors refactoring requriements style errors Thiis would allow developers to quickly see what is the most important stuff to fix. This infomration can be summarised on the summary page as well and a "code quality" rating can be calculated with a formula such as: ((Average # javadoc errors * 5) + (average # refactoring requirements * 4) + (average # style errors)) / 10 This means that javadoc errors are given a higher rating than refactoring requirements and refactoring requirements are given a much higher rating than style errors when calculating the "quality rating" ------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2002-10-19 12:27 By: rgardler Comment: The summary page does not indicate which packages have errors and it should. (I sent this the other day but it appears not to have been sent, apologies if this duplicates a previous message) For the benefit of lurkers on this list and those who have not conversed with me privately for a while I feel a status update for this project is appropriate, so here it is. There has been very little work on the project lately, although I have managed to find enough time to make a start on the database features. This is due, in the main to other commitments on my part. This period of hecticness is now starting to come to an end. I get married on Sunday and shortly after that I, and my new wife, will be emigrating to Trinidad and Tobago. After a short while relaxing I will get back to work on this project. I have recently committed basic support for any XML:DB database (Xindice is now shipped with CSMS), the application doesn't yet use the database but the utility classes and unit tests are in place. I have also moved the documentation around to accommodate the recent changes in Forrest (which is now at version 0.2). These changes require that you update Centipede as well as CSMS. Expect more work from me on this around the start of February. In the meantime, I will be monitoring my mails and will gladly help anyone who wishes to tackle anything in the application. Ross |

Okay, unserstood - I was adding the comment on the first of each 'experimental' change, but not on the subsequent ones - they would all have read the same anyway, but I guess something written is better than nothing. > -----Original Message----- > From: csm...@li... > [mailto:csm...@li...]On Behalf Of Ross > Gardler > Sent: 24 November 2002 19:22 > To: csm...@li... > Subject: [csms-dev] Messages on CVS commits > > > When committing changes to CVS it is important that a message is > attached to the commit. When committing changes to CVS it is important that a message is attached to the commit. There are three reasons for this: 1) It makes reading of the CVS mails much easier for the rest of us 2) The messages are archived and a meaningful message means we can quickly search the archives to find out what someone did to make XYZ happen - I know I can't remember all the solutions I implement 3) Soon (ish) I will be implementing a system that extracts the messages and created an automated change log for new releases It may seem obvious when committing the files what the change is, but that's because you made the change and you are reading the file. It's not obvious to the rest of us and even less obvious to the mail archive search engine. There should never be the need to commit experimental changes to CVS so there should always be a meaningful message (for example, "Changed XYZ to ABC as a fix for Bug #"). However, at the moment players.xml needs to be changed experimentally some times (not a good use of CVS but this will change soon). In this instance I suggest a message such as "Attempt to fix bug #" is used. Your CVS client should allow you to repeat the message you used for the last commit so this shouldn't be too much of a bind. Ross |

(Copied back to csms-dev for archive purposes) Mike L. wrote: > Ross, > Did you say that the players.xml file used to calculate players > scores is the one kept in the cvs, or is it kept elsewhere too? At present the all configuration files are set, by default, to use the ones in CVS head. Most of them can be customised in the application. However, playrs.xml cannot yet be customised and so is always the one in CVS head. This will change soon as we will be moving to an XML database for players rather than a flat file, but for now - yes it is CVS head. Ross |

This should be passed on as an attribute of the event element. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509511&aid=634998&group_id=65029 |

Please read this message carefully. You are receiving this message because this email address is associated with the account of a project administrator of a project currently hosted on SourceForge.net (https://sourceforge.net). This message has been sent in accordance with our "Guidelines Regarding Notification for SourceForge.net Site Changes", as found in the Site Docs collection of SourceForge.net On 2002-11-14 (Thursday), the SourceForge.net site, project mailing list services, and the primary download server (which handles the redirects for all download requests) will be offline for a period of two to three hours, starting at 16:00 Pacific (GMT-8). On 2002-11-17 (Sunday), project CVS services, project shell services, project web services (including all VHOSTs), and project database services will be offline for a period of up to twelve hours, starting at 10:00 Pacific (GMT-8). Project web services will be restored first, but will be brought up initially with read-only access to project group directory space. Static web content will be served correctly during this time period, but application-driven and database-dependent content and CGI scripts will not function correctly. Issues encountered during this time period SHOULD NOT be reported to SourceForge.net; they are an expected side-effect of this outage. Both outages (2002-11-14 at 16:00 for 3 hours, and 2002-11-17 at 10:00 for 12 hours) have been scheduled to permit the relocation of site hardware by SourceForge.net staff. All inquiries regarding this outage, SourceForge.net, or your project on SourceForge.net should be directed to the SourceForge.net team by submitting a Support Request. Support IS NOT provided via email. To submit a Support Request: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=add&group_id=1&atid=200001 Thank you, SourceForge.net staff |

Feature Requests item #634998, was opened at 2002-11-07 14:36 You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509511&aid=634998&group_id=65029 Category: None Group: Next Release Status: Open Priority: 8 Submitted By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) >Assigned to: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Summary: Collect score data for players Initial Comment: We need to collect data for individual players so that team scores and player stats can be generated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509511&aid=634998&group_id=65029 |

Feature Requests item #630742, was opened at 2002-10-29 22:00 You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509511&aid=630742&group_id=65029 Category: Interface Improvements Group: Next Release >Status: Closed Priority: 7 Submitted By: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Assigned to: Ross Gardler (rgardler) Summary: Provide default settings for preferences Initial Comment: Currently the systems default preference settings are coded in the application itself. This means that when the user first starts the application no preference files exist. The user therefore has to know what preferences they can set. It would be better if, when the application starts these preferences are looked for, and if necessary created. Thus when the user selects the edit preferences menu item they will not be presented with a blank sheet. If we make one of the preferences a version number then we only need to check the version number. If it is equal to or higher than the version we are execuring then we do not need to set the preferences. If it is lower, we can call a routine to add any additional preferences since that version. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=509511&aid=630742&group_id=65029 |
