1) I synched a folder with a lot of subfolders to a new folder encyrpted folder with CryptSync. CryptSync did a pretty good job but out of 17,000 files in 1,910 folders, but it missed about 600 files. Some of these were music files that might have album art files etc in, but I thought it should have copied everything over. I noticed later that CryptSync automatically put something in its "Ignore Files" line of " .tmp|~.|thumbs.db|desktop.ini. which was weird because the spot was blank when I started the program. Tthat might account for those 600 missing files, but I'd rather it would copy everything so I know for sure that it copied everything over.

2) The software has the "run in the background" mode which is great, but everytime you shut the computer down, you have to remember to start CryptSync each time, which sort of defeats the purpose of having it run in the background if you always have to restart it each time you start the computer. Is there some way that it can be set to always be on?

3) I looked at the log file, and it showed encrypted, then "failed to decrypt" on a lot of files. I have CryptSync to go from unencrypted file to encrypted file only. So why would it have tried to decrypt?

4) I read that the program stores a lot of the info in temp folders, using up a bunch of space unnecessarily. Is there some way it can not do that?

Ok, so I added a 4th question. But I can't edit the heading now.

    1. the default "ignore files" pattern only ignores temp or system-created files. So it makes sense to have that as a default.
    2. There's a checkbox "Start with Windows" in the main dialog right above the "Ignore files" box. If you check that box then CryptSync will start automatically in background mode when you log on to your computer.
    3. check the date for those entry in the log file. They might be from before you set the sync direction. If not, I will need a lot more info to figure out what's going on.
    4. CryptSync itself does not store much in the temp folder, and what it does it cleans up when it exits. But 7zip and especially GnuPG store some files there.

      Thanks for the help.
      1) How can I have it NOT ignore files? I don't want to copy 17,000 documents to a new folder and wonder which 600 it missed, if any.
      2) You were saying Check the date for those entry in the log file. They might be from before you set the sync direction. If not, I will need a lot more info to figure out what's going on."
But I had never used the software before, so it was all fresh data. I never tried to decrypt and only had the direction going from decrypted to encrypted only.
