GTKv2 Client 1.73.0 release

Crossfire Client GTKv2 1.73.0 is now available for download from SourceForge. Most notably, there is no separate distfile for sounds; sounds are installed by default if SOUND is enabled.

A Windows build is not available at this time.

Crossfire 1.71.0 Released

The Crossfire Development Team is pleased to announce the 1.71.0 release.

Highlights in this release include:

  • Per-character keybindings in the GTKv2 client
  • Fixed sound support in the GTKv2 client
  • Retirement of the 'crossfire-config' build parameter dumper
  • New pixmaps for many objects, including jewelry and more
  • Faster server input parsing
  • Many, many, many bug fixes

Crossfire 1.50.0 released

Crossfire 1.50.0 has been released. This release is based on the trunk
versions, discontinuing support for the 1.x branch. Given the long time
since the last release, there are lots of changes. Number is to note
that it is a more than just an incremental release from 1.11, but is not
yet 2.0

Lots of bug fixes, but there are not real major changes. But general
changes:
- New maps
- New graphics
- Many adjustments in play balance
- Change in combat speed
- New account based login mechanism
- Use of glade layout files in client, allow end users to choose from
different layouts
- Ability to control which window messages are routed to in the client

Crossfire 1.10.0 Released

Crossfire is an open source cooperative multiplayer graphical RPG and adventure game. Since its initial release Crossfire has grown to encompass over 150 monsters about 3000 maps to explore an elaborate magic system 13 races 15 character classes a system of skills and many artifacts and treasures. Crossfire is based in a medieval fantasy world and is similar to other games of this genre. 

Crossfire 1.10.0 has been released and includes numerous bug fixes and stability enhancements along with many minor changes and improvements. Some of the major changes include a new protocol commands so the client can get data it didn't ave before, tweaks/adjustments to several races & classes, lots of code clean up – removing old/unused code and fixes for diagnosed crashes. This is the first official release since the migration from CVS to Subversion (SVN). 

Also released is v1.10.0 of the GTK-v1 and GTK-v2 Clients.  

The GTK-v1 Client release contains minor improvements, numerous stability enhancements and bugfixes. 

The GTK-v2 Client release contains minor improvements, numerous stability enhancements and bugfixes. Some of the major changes include a progress bar to display experience and Partial Resistance (PR) information within the client now updates properly.

The World Map has been updated with new maps along with various bug fixes and patches. 

The Archetypes file contains various new monster graphics floor type and graphic updates & improvements and necessary changes to support the map2 protocol.

Crossfire 1.9.1 has been released and includes numerous bug fixes and stability enhancements along with many minor changes and improvements. Some of the major changes include fixing several spells that stopped working with the new movement code in v1.9.0, addition of a 'Bot' flag to denote if a character is controlled by a real player, addition of a new map sending protocol (map2) - this adds more map layers for the client to recognize, code cleanup, and new configuration options in the server settings for permanent experience and experience loss upon death.... read more

Some of the major changes include the addition of discrete movement types and the addition of transportation objects such as ships controlled by players. The server now sends spell information to the client for a more friendly display. Player stealing from other players can now be disabled by an option in the settings file. Crossfire 1.3.0 released.

This is a multiplayer graphical arcade and adventure game made for

Crossfire 1.0.0 released

Crossfire 1.0.0 has been released. This is a well tested and first version of crossfire meant for wide spread distribution.

WHAT IS CROSSFIRE?

This is a multiplayer graphical arcade and adventure game made for
the X-Windows environment.

It has certain flavours from other games, especially Gauntlet (TM)
and Nethack/Moria.

Any number of players can move around in their own window, finding
and using items and battle monsters. They can choose to cooperate
or compete in the same "world".
