Each time I try to create a "sprite" object in Construct and open the program, the program crashes and displays the following text box:

---------------------------
CD3DDisplay
---------------------------
An invalid texture was referenced.

This is a bug, please report it!

Then it shows this one:

---------------------------
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
---------------------------
Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Programfiler\Scirra\Construct\Construct.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

    Does this happen in a fresh project? Also, try 0.99.4. Maybe you have a really old graphics card and it cant handle having both the layout editor and the picture editor at once...i dunno...

    Yes, it does happen in a fresh project (I don't have any projects saved at this point). And I have tried 0.99.4 (didn't work), and I doubt I have a graphics card that old.
