This way we can break the backwards compatibility all we want--I'd like to have a new syntax altogether. I like the idea of using Lua, our own domain specific language, or even (shudder) XML with embedded Lua code. Either way I think we should emphasize the handling of custom behaviour with Lua. I'm going to update the wiki (at http://wiki.conky.be/index.php/Conky_2_design) with some of my ideas and a list of tasks that need to be carried out. First thing would be backporting some features to 1.7.2 and calling it 1.8.0. Regards, Brenden |
