Spring integration is finished. Now you can easily setup process controllers and worklists from within the spring application context xml. Please consult the homepage for a configuration example. Hi all, the host, where the homepage is hosted had a harddisk error. The harddisk has been replaced (thank you henner!). But there's no apache installed yet. Thus, the demo (with new kernel) is reachable: http://con-cern.org:8080/engagement .. but the homepage is not. Regards, Holger Quoting Holger Engels <he...@me...>: > The build cleanup is finished. The build cleanup is finished. For build and deployment instructions refer to: homepage/src/html/manual/install.html Using JBoss with the (Hypersonic) DefaultDS, the whole build and deployment procedure is now as simple as: cd <path to concern source tree> ant all dist cd j2ee-demo cp etc/build.properties etc/custom-build.properties vi etc/custom-build.properties ant all deploy_jboss BTW: redeployment of process and / or web application works reliable, now! Hello everyone,
Things are going a bit slowly in my quest to get to know Concern (got to
keep the boss happy)...but I'll get there.
I currently am getting TransformerExceptions when trying to generate.
This happens on the oracle.xsl

Thank you, Holger I am now able to build model, devel and controller, Although for devel I had to manually add 3 directories to get through the build... These were C:\Concern\concern\concern\j2ee\build\lib C:\Concern\concern\concern\devel\dist\etc\ant C:\Concern\concern\concern\devel\src\ant Of these the one that worries me is the last because looking at the ant script it seems as if this folder could have contained source files. I might be wrong though. Thanx again Ivanhoe -----Original Message----- From: Holger Engels [mailto:he...@me...] Sent: Wednesday, July 14, 2004 11:05 AM To: Ivanhoe Abrehams Cc: con...@li... Hi guys,
First of all, thank you for your swift response
My next hurdle is to get model, devel and controller to compile.
Model compiles just fine, although devel has a problem in that the class
LibraryEvent does not exist.
I did a search and cant find this class in the code base either. Maybe this
is a new class that somebody forgot to commit?
The following is the compiler output when compiling devel
..............
compile:
[depend] Deleted 0 out of date files in 0 seconds
[javac] Compiling 148 source files to
C:\Concern\concern\concern\devel\build\class
[javac]
C:\Concern\concern\concern\devel\src\java\org\concern\devel\action\ToLibrary
Action.java:63: cannot resolve s
ymbol
[javac] symbol : class LibraryEvent
[javac] location: class org.concern.devel.action.ToLibraryAction
[javac] item = new LibraryEvent(event);
[javac] ^
[javac] 1 error
.............
Thank you in advance
Ivanhoe

Then you have built the api (model), the modeller (devel) and the runtime (controller). You can start the modeller with the script: devel/dist/bin/cm.sh or: devel\dist\bin\cm.bat Afterwards you might want to build the embedded-demo: cd embedded-demo ant dist cd .. Start the demo with: embedded-demo/dist/bin/embedded-demo.sh sorry, no dos script available yet! If you get there, come back to me. If you encounter problems during build, please send the ant output. > Howevere I get SAXParseException exception, > > > [ejbdoclet] Generating EJB deployment descriptor (ejb-jar.xml). > > [ejbdoclet] org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Element "enterprise-beans" > requires additional elements. Hi, thanks for your interest! Let me try to answer your questions below .. Quoting Ivanhoe Abrehams <Iva...@lb...>: > I'm very much interested in using con:cern, although I must say after > downloading concern-all I am confused. Use CVS head instead. There's a new kernel in development right now, that does not depend on j2ee and is designed to be used in conjunction with spring or jboss aop. The development is finished. Demos and unit tests are running. Build scripts have to be simplified. Planned release date is end of july. > I would like to 'eventually' use concern together with the spring > framework, > and as such I feel I should start looking at the kernel, although , there > too I feel a bit lost. > > I guess my question is, as a newbie, where do I start when trying to get to > grips with concern. Maybe you should start with the modeller first in order to get a feeling, how things work. Try to model a simple process. Generate the sources and try to understand those sources. Then look at the demos. At the moment both, the embedded-demo and the j2ee-demo don't rely on a j2ee container. However, the former is Swing based and the latter is wingS (servlet) based. > I am busy reading "The Case Handling Case" by Wil van der Aalst, Hajo > Reijers and Jaap Rigter. because its always good to understand the > theoretical concepts behind something new, although there is nothing like a > few examples, especially ones that are not cluttered by any j2ee-like > dependencies. However, the project has just started. Hi guys, I'm very much interested in using con:cern, although I must say after downloading concern-all I am confused. I would like to 'eventually' use concern together with the spring framework, and as such I feel I should start looking at the kernel, although , there too I feel a bit lost. I guess my question is, as a newbie, where do I start when trying to get to grips with concern. I am busy reading "The Case Handling Case" by Wil van der Aalst, Hajo Reijers and Jaap Rigter. because its always good to understand the theoretical concepts behind something new, although there is nothing like a few examples, especially ones that are not cluttered by any j2ee-like dependencies. So, I would appreciate it if anybody can provide me with some pointers on getting started with con:cern, with the eventual idea of using it in conjunction with the spring framework Thank you in advance Ivanhoe |

.. is finished, though it might have some bugs still. However the unit tests are running, the embedded demo is running and the j2ee demo is running. I recommend all users of con:cern to use the new controller from cvs head. If you have any problems with it, please let me know. The j2ee demo uses a servlet context listener for deployment of the processes. I will add jmx support soon. Configuration is much simpler now. The only thing, you have to configure is the hibernate.cfg.xml (j2ee: additional parameter "concern.TransactionManagerLookup"). And thus the build process got much simpler, too. Next steps are: overall o build cleanup j2ee o jmx modeller o events o library o generalizations o leon continues work on windjets Holger Engels (Dipl Inf Med) -- Consultant, Architect, Developer Mobile: +49 176 20119752 ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

There was another bug in the generator j2ee-build.xml for sapdb and oracle. I fixed it and checked it in: you have to issue the following commands: cd devel ant dist cd ../j2ee-demo ant clean concern Then you have the correct *Controller.jar files. I attached that file, because nina is working with an anonymous checkout. Put the file to: devel/src/ant/j2ee-build.xml before you run the above commands. It's probably getting quite irritating for you, but yet there's another error :-( This time it's got something to do with the DB. It's nagging it can't fetch the next PK as the user is unknown. Is there a user set for this query somewhere and if not, can I set it somewhere?? Normally I would like to believe Jboss already has an open connection to the DB with the user specified in the custom-build.properties, which loads just fine.
