To do this you would 'Obsolete' the original topic. By doing so, you will b= e=20 asked to create a new topic, which should point ot your new code. Hi, Codestriker has support for bugzilla and flyspray. It is designed to poke a comment into a bug or issue tracker when a topic is opened. The comment has who opened it, when, and an url back to codestriker. You can see the codestriker code here. http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/codestriker/codestriker/lib/Codestriker/BugDB/ If trac has a way of adding comments to existing issues it would be easy to add trac support into codestriker. Other kinds of integration would be more difficult. If you wanted every comment in codestriker to be a new issue in trac. Or, going the other way, if you wanted every svn commit in trac to be a codestriker topic. This is classic tradeoff between systems like trac that attempt to do everything versus a very narrow and focused application like codestriker. Things that do everything can have rich integration between the parts. However, because of the size of the problem, each part will not have as much stuff. Because codestriker wants to work with all kinds of db, and SCM systems, its integration with those other systems is minimal because it has so many kinds of things to deal with. David Sitsky (the main author of Codstriker) is on vacation right now. If somebody could drop a url to the codestriker-user list on how to add comments to trac issues, then we could probably put something together for the next release. Trac looks pretty nice at first glance, so we would be interested in integrating against it like a bug database. Thanks Jason --- Moisei <mo...@gm...> wrote: > Hello dear All, > > Codestriker is an open-sourced web application which supports online > code reviewing: > http://codestriker.sourceforge.net > Trac is an enhanced wiki and issue tracking system for software > development projects: > http://www.edgewall.com/trac > > Since the code review is being recognized as an impotant part of any > serious software development project, > I am just wondering whetjer anybody ever think about the integration above? > > Techcnicaly it should be not a complicate task - since both projects use the > same technology. and the benefits could be great for the both of them. > > -- > Best Regards, > Moisei > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > SF.Net email is sponsored by: > Tame your development challenges with Apache's Geronimo App Server. Hi ! We are in the final stages of testing out codestriker before deploying it in a wider forum for code reviews within our group. I had sent email last week regarding some issues: FYI, for perfoming reviews between two files, we are diffing the 2 files, in unidiff format which is compatible with codestriker. + If we are parallely viewing the older and newer revisions of a file with the older one on left and newer one on the right side, so far as line numbers are matching, but stuff has been modified in it, if we comment on the newer file, line number hyperlink, it somehow shows up on the older revision file on the left hand side. i.e. seems like someone commented on the older file instead of the new file. + If some new proc has been added to the newer file, which doesnt have corresponding line numbers with regard to the older file, and if I were to click on the hyperlink for a line number to add a comment, for some reason, on refreshing the page, we don't see the corresponding line number being marked in red (indicating a comment on the line). Only thing that gets updated is the topic_comments. + Another question: Want to confirm behavior. If I comment on a line number in new file, which has a matching line in the old file, after submitting the comment in the add_tooltip, I see a new page show which indicates comment submitted. There are now hyperlinks to "List open topics", "Create new topic", "Search", also see them for view topic "text | comments". There is a close button and a close hyperlink in this tooltip. If I click on the button, it brings me to the page within this small open tooltip, which lists all the open topics, just as one would see if he/she were to click on the "list all open topics link". If I click the "Close" hyperlink, then the tooltip closes as expected. The behavior listed above for the "Close" button, is it default behavior ? If you have any suggestions/comments/recommendations, pls let me know. Thanks in advance for your response. Hello dear All, Codestriker is an open-sourced web application which supports online code reviewing: http://codestriker.sourceforge.net Trac is an enhanced wiki and issue tracking system for software development projects: http://www.edgewall.com/trac Since the code review is being recognized as an impotant part of any serious software development project, I am just wondering whetjer anybody ever think about the integration above? Techcnicaly it should be not a complicate task - since both projects use th= e same technology. and the benefits could be great for the both of them. --=20 Best Regards, Moisei |

Hi ! I am using the version 1.9.1 of codestriker. I am trying to use the parallel compare option while performing review. On the left hand side is the older file say rev1 with approx 50 lines. On right hand side is new file (to be rev2) with approx 900 new lines. When I click in rev2 on line number 200 and make a comment and submit it... on refreshing the page, I don;t see a the hyperlink under line 200 showing up as red and displaying the comment that I made. Any clues why this could happen ?? I have tried this with the following 2 commands without luck. ccdiff -u oldfile newfile > diff_file cvs diff -u oldfile newfile > diff_file I created a review topic with diff_file which is in unidiff format. Any help is appreciated. Thanks and regards, Akshay _________________________________________________________________ Biography of Shah Rukh. Hi !
I had emailed on this alias a few days back regarding some issues with
codestriker-1.9.1
On discussing with some folks in our group, we figured out that making the
following changes seemed to make the tool work as demo'ed on the website.
Pasting the diff below.
Am wondering, if there is something amiss with the code for locating
codestriker.css in Response.pm as can be seen from the diff below or
something that needs configuring in the codestriker.conf file.
Pls. let me know.
Thanks and regards,
Akshay

Hi Jason ! Thanks for your response. Well, I switch back to 1.8.5 and that seems to work fine. A few questions. - Does it generate seperate email per line commented on ? Could be quite a lot of them, if many persons reviewing the code start commenting on various lines ? - Also, unlike the demo for 1.9.1, if I click on the hyperlink for the linenumber, I don't see any previous comments on that line ? Is that an upgrade to 1.9.1 over 1.8.5 ? - As regards enabling Javascript, I have it turned on in Firefox , still, I get an error saying function e0 not defined in javascript. so was wondering what we could do to get past that and use 1.9.1 as far as possible ? - Also, was just wondering, if at all I needed the apache server to be capable of serving servlets so that we could use 1.9.1 ? Same server seems to be working fine when I switch to 1.8.5. I know for a fact that currently, it isnt setup to do so. Appreciate your response. For some reason, when I click on the topic for review and get directed to the page which has the entire file under review, no form seems to open up when I click on the links to "Add general comment to topic" or "on a specific line number" ? Does apache server, need to be setup to serve java servlets ? The one which we currently have doesnt seem to be setup to do so. I have tried this through IExplorer, netscape communicator as well as Firefox with the same result. any help/suggestions in this regards are welcome. Hi, I just noticed that if a user enters an invalid bugzilla bug ID when creating a new topic codestriker will happily accept the id and add the appropriate comment to the bugzilla database. However, months later when the bug database finally catches up to this invalid id and makes it valid the codestriker comment now becomes visible as the description for the new bug. Can codestriker be modified so that it checks that the bug id is valid before inserting the comment and fails if it doesn't exist? Cheers, Craig. |

I have recently installed the latest version of mod_perl 2.0 which no longer has Apache2.pm in it. While it does still have Apache2::compat, loading that in httpd.conf is not helping with the namespace issue. I'm getting the expected "Can't locate Apache/" module errors when trying to run Codestriker. I looked at newer versions but did not see any reference to whether or not they have a port to the Apache2 namespace. Is there something I've missed here? |
