The windows installation package
https://sourceforge.net/projects/codeblocks/files/Binaries/16.01/Windows/codeblocks-16.01mingw-setup.exe/download

alerts the Avast Free Antivirus (one of the most used in homes, because it's free for home use) to delete the downloaded .EXE (i.e. to "move to chest") and thus sabotage CodeBlocks issue. Avast reports your software to be Win32:Malware gen, but :I really believe that's a false alarm.

I think that my issue may be reproduced in other configurations, and represents a serious sabotage to CodeBlocks users under Windows. So you should negotiate to Avast to improve their virus detection algorithms to avoid such false alarms.

Well did YOU report the file as false positive? I see the link at the bottom of the message. So you can help directly!

Yes, I reported it as a false positive, but I'm not sure if they will ever consider the issue.

I've been using CodeBlocks 10.5 in the past years also had issues with Avast Antivirus with my own porgrams compiled with CodeBlocks GNU C/C++ Compiler, i.e. Avast always displayed false warinings that the new EXE-s might be viruses. Thus I excluded CodeBlocks folder from virus scanning.

However, this time I can't even download the new verskion of CodeBlocks itself, so it's worth alarming you about this issue.

Not much we can do I'm afraid. I've reported to AVAST myself. Lezts see...

For the moment please consider downloading the ZIP packages (the onw without setup).

I will close the ticket now.
