    I think that your proposition in the patch is not a good one, because you have written clearly the mail address. The intention of the author was to mask it (not a lot, sure), probably to avoid some bot...

    I checked all the plugins beforehand: they all use the clear form. That's why I propose this fix.
    Do you have a fix that keeps the author's idea ?

    IMHO the solution is replacing < with &lt; and > with &gt;.
