Hi, thanks. My question has been answered by your prerun statement. I haven't been aware of the possibilities offered by specifying the prerun statement. Maybe one could add that NFS mounting as an additional example? Hi, Did you mean you want to mount NFS server as image repository, or to let PXE booting use the root file (filesystem.squashfs) on the NFS server? The 'nfsroot=192.168.0.1:/srv/nfs' is for the latter. For the former, you can use: ocs_prerun="mount -t nfs 192.168.0.1:/srv/nfs /home/partimag" Ref: http://clonezilla.org/fine-print-live-doc.php?path=clonezilla-live/doc/99_Misc/00_live-boot-parameters.doc Steven. Hi, So did you mean when running dcs, you want a better display for the images list? Or you need a file browser to list the images on the NFS server? Steven. Hi, is there a way to preset the NFS server parameters? Since all images are stored at the same NFS server I would like to pass this fixed ip address and path using some boot parameter. Adding 'nfsroot=192.168.0.1:/srv/nfs' I had no luck: I'm still asked for ip address and path. Thx in advance! Kind regards, Heiko |

Hi, I'm currently using Clonezilla via PXE to setup test systems with the needed operating systems. Since I have to do testing for a set of system hardware and a set of operating systems that means that I need quite a large set of combinations. Currently I'm accessing those images using NFS (also on the PXE server). Problem: the list of images is quite long and each image also has a quite lengthy name (to express what it is to be used for). So the displayed name of each image is not completely shown inside the list of images. So the question is how to manage/structure/group those images to get around this problem? Any suggestions? I'm missing some kind of browsing through (NFS) folders ... Thx in advance! Kind regards, Heiko |

This release of Clonezilla live (2.2.3-25) includes major enhancements and bug fixes. *** ENHANCEMENTS and CHANGES *** * The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2014/Jun/01). * Linux kernel was updated to 3.14.7-1. * Package drbl was updated to 2.9.9-drbl1, and clonezilla was updated to 3.10.26-drbl1. * Syslinux was updated to 6.03-pre17. * Program makeboot.sh was patched by Ceasar Sun to support xfs, ufs and ffs. * Language files ca_ES, de_DE, es_ES, fr_FR, it_IT, ja_JP.UTF-8 and sk_SK was updated. Thanks to René Mérou, Michael Vinzenz, Juan Ramón Martínez, Alex Ibáñez López, Jean-Francois Nifenecker, Gianfranco Gentili, Akira YOSHIYAMA, and Ondrej Dzivy Balucha. * A testing program "ocs-img-2-vdk" was added. It can be used to convert Clonezilla image as virtual disk file (qcow2 and vmdk) via KVM. To use it, qemu-utils and qemu-kvm packages are required. *** BUG FIXES *** * Forced to use LC_ALL=C to run printf in ocs-expand-mbr-pt. This could avoid the locales issue (https://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/bugs/197/). * Newer ntfsclone comes with option "-V", which conflicts with the option we used before. * Program cnvt-ocs-dev now could convert SD device (mmcblk0). Thanks to joyer99 for reporting this issue (https://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/discussion/Clonezilla_live/thread/40636cdd/?limit=25). * Program ocs-live-run-menu was improved so that it can run variable ocs_live_run like: ocs_live_run="ocs-restore-mdisks -batch -p '-g auto -e1 auto -e2 -cm -r -j2 -k1 -p true' ask_user sda sdb". Thanks to Coudy and jbweng2008 _at_ 163 com for reporting this issue. This release of Clonezilla live (2.2.3-10) includes major enhancements and bug fixes. *** ENHANCEMENTS and CHANGES *** * The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2014/May/18). * Linux kernel was updated to 3.14.4-1. * Package drbl was updated to 2.8.25-drbl1, and clonezilla was updated to 3.10.11-drbl1. * Package diskscan was added. * Adding option "-batch" for ocs-restore-mdisks, and it's the same function as "-b" or "--batch". *** BUG FIXES *** * This release fixed a bug where live-boot was upgraded to 4.x, which is not patched, and caused live-betty to not work. * When in restoreparts mode, the "-t" option should now be set by default. * A bug where 1-2-mdisks failed to reinstall grub due to ocs-restore-mbr not honoring the temp $ocsroot variable was fixed. * Restoring an LVM partition no longer prevents any following non-LVM partitions from being restored. * The boot media should not be mounted again as read-write mode in ocs-live-save. Otherwise when rebooting, due to the squashfsfs is mounted, it can not be unmounted. The linux kernel modules are localted in /lib/modules/. Therefore it might mismatch to that in /boot/. You still can do that with Clonezilla, just have to remember there is such a risk. I currently have a three partition setup using ubuntu 14.04: sda1: efi boot sda2: boot sda3: LVM (root + swap) Let's say I backup sda3. Subsequently let's say I add a few additional partitions (it's a GPT disk) and did a few kernel upgrades (through apt). If I then decided at some point later that I wanted to restore sda3, could I go ahead and do that. I ask because it seems the partition table will have changed as well as the kernel so will there not be some kind of a mismatch? Thanks in advance for any advice P.S. I appreciate a full disk backup would avoid this but I'd rather not do this as there's a large data portion I don't need clonezilla for. |

This release of Clonezilla live (2.2.2-32) includes major enhancements and bug fixes. ENHANCEMENTS and CHANGES * The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2014/Mar/31). * Linux kernel was updated to 3.13.7-1. * Partclone was updated to 0.2.70. An issue about restoring image file to raw format has been fixed (http://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/ discussion/Clonezilla_live/thread/4db4b2bd/). Thanks to quaid for reporting this issue. * Syslinux was updated to 6.03-pre9. * Package drbl was updated to 2.8.6-drbl1, and clonezilla was updated to 3.9.49-drbl1. * Two options were added to makeboot.sh: -L and -U. Patch provided by Ceasar Sun. * A boot parameter "ocs_prompt_mode" was added so some of the prompt could be shown in TUI or CMD mode. * Function parse_cmdline_option of drbl-functions was updated to accept all print characters ([[:print:]]). Thanks to Fuchs (fusi1939 _at_ users sf net) for this suggestion. * Image creating time will be shown in the prompt before restoring an image. * An example gen-rec-usb was added. It could be used to create a recovery USB flash drive directly from the machine. Thanks to ilovecats for this idea. * The example "clone-multiple-usb-example.sh" was removed because it's in the main menu already. * An unattended option (-b) was added to makeboot.sh. * Package libc6-i386 was added in all AMD64 version so that some 32-bit programs could be run. * The "syslinux" and "isolinux" dirs of Clonezilla live have been unified as one dir "syslinux". Thanks to Ady (ady-sf _at_ hotmail com) for this suggestion. * An option "-d syslinux" was added when running syslinux in makeboot.sh/makeboot.bat/makeboot64.bat. Thanks to Ady (ady-sf _at_ hotmail com) for this suggestion. * The option "--rsyncable" was added for gzip/pigz when saving an image (https://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/discussion/Open_discussion/thread/8d5f80a6). Thanks to lucatrv for providing this idea. * Pixz is used in ocs-onthefly local to remote cloning. An option to use xz as filter program was added, too. * Switching back to lbzip2 (http://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/discussion/Open_discussion/thread/141facdc/). Thanks to Steven Goris for reminding this. * Language files ca_ES and zh_CN were updated. Thanks to Juan Ramón MartÃnez, René Mérou, and Zhiqiang Zhang. BUG FIXES * The parameter "autoproductname" should filter the characters "()[]{}". Thanks to Coudy* for reporting this issue (https://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/bugs/193/). * The menu about "toram" option for grub should use toram=filesystem.squashfs instead of toram so that it's consistent with that of syslinux. * The xz format for old image format (e.g. sda1.aa) was not detected (https://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/bugs/191/). Thanks to peter green for reporting this issue. * A typo for the destination partition for 2nd confirmation for local partition to local partition was fixed (https://sourceforge.net/p/ clonezilla/discussion/Open_discussion/thread/b99ab9e6/). Thanks to Tweed for reporting this bug. * The grub dir name is called "grub2" for Fedora >=18, that causes check_grub_partition function failed to locate the grub partition. If you aren't hotplugging, that will normally be fixed by the controller and connection order on the machine, and bios will see the boot drive as the one linux calls /dev/sda. USB and hotplug drives are somewhat special cases since they can be detected in any order. If you boot from USB it may become /dev/sda, regardless of the normal detection order. I didn't think that happened with CD drives - at least IDE/SATA versions. -- Les Mikesell les...@gm... |

Here's what I did- - booted up Clonezilla Live via CD drive (no other drives were physically attached). - Once Clonezilla was "Started" (seeing the welcome screen and getting past the keyboard stuff) then, uh....cough, cough, I just connected drives (image source.....then, destination) that I thought were to be connected at a certain time. Question concerning "drive location". Does that mean that each usb port on my machine assigns a specific /dev/sda...../dev/sdb? I thought sda was the first drive plugged in. Then after a 2nd drive is attached the new one is called sdb? Now, would you please tell me how to get the drives in the right position sda and sdb wise? (Assuming that's what I'm supposed to do). Thanks, Charles |

The simple answer is to save the image in the same drive location as it will be when you restore and when it is supposed to boot. Perhaps you used a USB boot into clonezilla-live that made the USB device become /dev/sda and shifted all the other devices down. The less simple answer is to run grub yourself after the restore with the right options for the root and setup commands - where 'right' will depend on the current relative disk position and your system's bios concepts. The error message you didn't bother with might have given you a hint about them. -- Les Mikesell les...@gm... |

Not likely considering there's no way to copy the text except by hand. And even if I knew exactly what the message said there isn't much I could do about since restoring an image should've done just that. I've looked extensively (several hours) and finally came up with the idea to reinstall the boot loader via a method found on the Crunchbang forum. Clonezilla made an image of a USB stick. When the image was restored Clonezilla said something like this; "The image was made from sdb but was restored to sda....it won't boot....you'll have to fix something in grub at /etc/blah, blah, blah, so that it will boot". Can anyone help me solve this problem? Thanks, Peace |

Hi everyone, I'm using GRUB2 to boot an ISO stored on one of my ext4 partitions. This works perfectly fine. However, I can't make it work from an ext4 filesystem that sits on top of LVM. GRUB2 boots the ISO but something is wrong with the "findiso" kernel parameter. When the CD boots I get a bunch of: modprobe: module LVM2_member not found in modules.dep modprobe: module swap not found in modules.dep That's why I know it is something related to the findiso parameter. Here's my configuration: http://fpaste.org/71588/ The first menuentry is the one that works followed by the LVM one where I even tried "findiso=$isofile" but didn't work. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Jorge |
