I've had a similar problem on my notebook, but I have a new computer- Dell Optiplex 330 (amd64 bit) and am booting Clonezilla from an external USB CD drive. (new computer....new problems!)

I suspect the problem has something to do with the Clonezilla cd version I downloaded and burned. The version is 2.7.1-22-amd64

I can't get Clonezilla Live to go beyond the initial screen that appears

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Well, solved it similarly- downloaded Clonezilla 20210127 groovy amd64

Booted up and runs fine. Just did the weekly disk clone which Clonezilla did perfectly, as always.
