-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 how about switching to --with-dynamic-modules being the default? the installation would then contain one (1) linking set - "boot" (installed as "base" for backwards compatibility) and dynamically compiled modules. pro: - - smaller distribution size - - larger pre-built module selection (pcre/pgsql/X is no longer a clisp prerequisite, etc) contra: - - lose STACK_register (=> 1-5% performance hit? still? confirmation?) - - slower startup - requires modules loading. OTOH, we can make base already include regexp, gettext and syscalls. OTOH, some scripters may prefer PCRE to POSIX regexp... what do people think?
