uninstalling from binaries

In the spirit of Erik J. Pearson's remarks about cleaning before 
installing, I have a further suggestion. In verifying Doug Phillips' 
series of clisp binary builds at my place, I found I had to go to 
extremes making sure that traces of earlier installations were not 
affecting what was in front of me.  I therefore request that an 
"uninstall" feature be added to binary distributions.  It would ease 
the development and upgrading processes.
