FYI, a new version of the MCLIDE Mac Lisp IDE is now released. The new version officially supports CLISP. MCLIDE can install and activate CLISP from a dialog in the user interface, making it easy to get started. Here is the official announcement: -------------------------------------- MCLIDE is a free open source Macintosh IDE for Lisp implementations on any platform. It provides a double-clickable, stand-alone development environment that connects to a Lisp either locally or through the network. The new MCLIDE 1.0b4 can install most supported Lisp implementations from the user interface, and has rich interactive development and debugging tools that make it easier to get productive with Lisp: http://mclide.in-progress.com MCLIDE now also officially supports CLISP, in addition to Clojure, SBCL, Clozure CL, LispWorks and MCL. It can potentially be used with the same Lisp implementations as SLIME. MCLIDE provides a consistent developer experience regardless of the Lisp. The built-in programming editor has paren matching, automatic indentation and numerous shortcuts. It comes with plug-ins providing optional Lisp syntax styling and symbol completion. Use it on the same computer as your Lisp system, or target one or more Lisp implementations on other computers or operating systems. Follow the progress of MCLIDE at www.twitter.com/mclide -------------------------------------- |

Sam, > is it legal to manipulate O(current_language) _before_ init_memory()? No. It is initialized 8 lines before the end of init_memory(). _Before_ init_memory(), the memory mappings are not even set up. An access may crash, return a NULL object, or return garbage. You have the GETTEXTL macro, which relies on variables set up by init_language. This one is OK to use after init_language() has terminated. Bruno, I think possible_symlink can be safely removed. Linux 2.0.35 is quite ancient. if I disable possible_symlink, I now see: [3]> (probe-pathname "/proc/self/cwd") #P"/home2/sds/src/clisp/current/build-g/" ; #P"/proc/self/cwd/" ; 3514304456 ; 20480 [4]> (probe-pathname "/proc/self/exe") #P"/home2/sds/src/clisp/current/build-g/lisp.run" ; #P"/proc/self/exe" ; 3514304456 ; 7582054 [5]> (probe-pathname "/proc/self/root") #P"/" ; #P"/proc/self/root/" ; 3514288826 ; 4096 [6]> (probe-pathname "/proc/self/fd/1") #P"/dev/pts/4" ; #P"/proc/self/fd/1" ; 3514305193 ; 0 [7]> (probe-pathname "/proc/self/fd/2") #P"/dev/pts/4" ; #P"/proc/self/fd/2" ; 3514305203 ; 0 [8]> any objections to removing it? -- Sam Steingold (http://sds.podval.org/) on CentOS release 5.6 (Final) X 11.0.60900031 http://palestinefacts.org http://www.memritv.org http://camera.org http://openvotingconsortium.org http://jihadwatch.org http://ffii.org There is an exception to every rule, including this one. |

Bugs item #2292928, was opened at 2008-11-15 19:41 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by sf-robot You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101355&aid=2292928&group_id=1355 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: clisp Group: segfault >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: moritz schulte (moritzschulte) Assigned to: Bruno Haible (haible) Summary: handle_fault SIGSEGV Initial Comment: Hi, just downloaded CLISP-2.47 on my Ubuntu system. (uname output: Linux kiste 2.6.27-8-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 6 17:38:14 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux). CLISP crashes after "./configure --cbc build" with the following error message: *** - handle_fault error2 ! address = 0x0 not in [0x334a22000,0x334cfdee8) ! SIGSEGV cannot be cured. Fault address = 0x0. GC count: 276 Space collected by GC: 319921952 Run time: 36 934307 Real time: 38 362982 GC time: 2 696167 Permanently allocated: 157640 bytes. Currently in use: 7518448 bytes. Free space: 288994 bytes. make[1]: *** [tests] Segmentation fault make[1]: Verlasse Verzeichnis '/home/moritz/tmp/clisp-2.47/build/tests' make: *** [check-tests] Fehler 2 I tried to install an uptodate CLISP since the version shipped with Ubuntu (2.44) crashes with a very similar error message when I run my application. Thanks for any help, moritz PS: it seems it's not possible to report bugs anonymously, which doesn't make it too easy for people not having a SourceForge account to report bugs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: SourceForge Robot (sf-robot) Date: 2011-05-13 16:20 Message: This Tracker item was closed automatically by the system. It was previously set to a Pending status, and the original submitter did not respond within 14 days (the time period specified by the administrator of this Tracker). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sam Steingold (sds) Date: 2011-04-29 16:03 Message: this is the standard request for more information. 1. what is your platform? ("uname -a" on a Unix system) compiler version? libc (on Linux)? 2. where did you get the sources? when? (absolute dates are prefered over the relative ones) 3. how did you build CLISP? (what command, options &c) please do a clean build (remove your build directory and build CLISP with "./configure --build build" or at least do a "make distclean" before "make") 4. if you are using pre-built binaries, the problem is likely to be in the incompatibilities between the platform on which the binary was built and yours; please try compiling the sources. 5. what is the output of (lisp-implementation-version)? 6. what is the value of *features*? 7. please supply the full output (copy and paste) of all the error messages. If you cannot build CLISP, you can obviously skip 5 and 6, but then you should provide more information in 1. please see <http://clisp.cons.org/clisp.html#bugs> for more information. Thanks. PS. This bug report is now marked "pending" and will auto-close unless you respond (in which case it will auto-re-open). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sam Steingold (sds) Date: 2008-11-16 00:10 Message: you did not provide enough context in the error message, but this is probably related to https://sourceforge.net/tracker2/?func=detail&aid=1913760&group_id=1355&atid=101355 try installing ffcall from cvs https://savannah.gnu.org/projects/libffcall ps. yes, you cannot communicate with us anonymously. this is intentional. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101355&aid=2292928&group_id=1355 |

(&whole d e . f)) . g) is the same as (a (&whole b c &whole d e . f) . g) This is invalid: For macro lambda lists, CLHS 3.4.4 says "If &whole and a following variable appear, they must appear first in lambda-list, before any other parameter or lambda list keyword." Similarly, for destructuring lambda lists, CLHS 3.4.5 also allows &whole only at the beginning of the list. SBCL gives an error message: &WHOLE may only appear first in DESTRUCTURING-BIND lambda-list. &WHOLE may only appear first in DEFMACRO lambda-list. I have added a similar error to clisp now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101355&aid=3295448&group_id=1355 |

I had to revert my changes before Mercurial would stop > complaining. Just something to check. I got the same result on two different machines, and I think I had an uncommitted change on ONE of them. On the one without (I think) changes: $ hg up tip 8 files updated, 0 files merged, 0 files removed, 0 files unresolved $ hg pull -u pulling from http://clisp.hg.sourceforge.net:8000/hgroot/clisp/clisp searching for changes no changes found On the one WITH a change (and old hg - version 0.9): $ hg up tip this update spans a branch affecting the following files: doc/faq.xml modules/clx/new-clx/clx.f modules/clx/new-clx/clx.lisp modules/clx/new-clx/test.tst src/ChangeLog src/NEWS src/spvw_language.d win32msvc/nsis/env_var_update.nsh (resolve) aborting update spanning branches! (use 'hg merge' to merge across branches or 'hg update -C' to lose changes) But my change was to src/unixaux.d, not mentioned above. So I suspect the difference is due to hg version. I continue with $ hg up -C 8 files updated, 0 files merged, 0 files removed, 0 files unresolved $ hg pull -u pulling from http://clisp.hg.sourceforge.net:8000/hgroot/clisp/clisp searching for changes adding changesets adding manifests adding file changes added 1 changesets with 1 changes to 785 files 1 files updated, 0 files merged, 0 files removed, 0 files unresolved I only hope everything is now in the right state. Also that I don't have to go through this in the future. |

Can you explain what sort of change on the sf repo caused this problem? Evidently you think that hg pull -u is not necessarily enough to update my version of the source. In that case, please tell me what I ought to do instead. What does hg up tip do in comparison with hg pull -u ? > 2. this is not a clisp issue (it would have been if the repo @ sf were > corrupt, but it is not). please ask the mercurial mailing list. I imagine it's a problem with either the way hg is being used to alter the repository, or the way I'm trying to update my copy. If I sent this to the hg list they'd probably ask what I'm trying to do, and although at one level I know what I'm trying to do - update my version to be the same as the sf repo - I don't know what sort of policies are intended for updating the repo - are we trying to avoid all branching, so that all I need is a single tip? If so, the message about crossing branches suggests that some recent updates have failed to conform to that policy. |

Bugs item #3292605, was opened at 2011-04-25 07:17 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by sds You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101355&aid=3292605&group_id=1355 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: clx >Group: lisp error >Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Ben Spencer (dangerousben) >Assigned to: Sam Steingold (sds) Summary: new-clx get-property unpacks properties incorrectly on 64bit Initial Comment: >From the XGetWindowProperty man page: 'If the returned format is 32, the property data will be stored as an array of longs (which in a 64-bit application will be 64-bit values that are padded in the upper 4 bytes).' But XLIB:GET-PROPERTY casts prop_return to a uint32 when actual_format is 64. Attached patch casts it to long instead, which fixes the issue at least on my amd64 machine. This was the ultimate cause of the issue described here (and explains why other clx implementations were apparently unaffected): http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=4A954322.80106%40gnu.org&forum_name=clisp-devel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sam Steingold (sds) Date: 2011-04-28 13:35 Message: thank you for your bug report. the bug has been fixed in the source tree (mercurial/hg). you can either wait for the next release (recommended) or check out the current mercurial tree (see http://clisp.org) and build CLISP from the sources (be advised that between releases the source tree is very unstable and may not even build on your platform). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ben Spencer (dangerousben) Date: 2011-04-28 02:34 Message: I tried to write a simple test case but found that it fails (differently) both with and without the patch, so I'm pretty confused now :( > 1. actual_format_return is 32, not 64; value of 64 raises an exception Yep, sorry, that was a typo. > what could "padded in the upper 4 bytes" mean? how should it be handled? I assumed it meant padded with zeroes. However, having looked more more closely at the source of xprop, it does: value = * (const unsigned long *) *pointer & 0xffffffff; Changing the patch to do this didn't help though. Here's my test case and results: (let* ((display (xlib:open-display "")) (screen (first (xlib:display-roots display))) (window (xlib:create-window :parent (xlib:screen-root screen) :x 0 :y 0 :width 100 :height 100)) (hints (xlib:make-wm-size-hints :x 1 :y 2 :width 3 :height 4))) (setf (xlib:wm-normal-hints window) hints) (print hints) (print (xlib:wm-normal-hints window))) Without patch: #S(XLIB:WM-SIZE-HINTS :USER-SPECIFIED-POSITION-P NIL :USER-SPECIFIED-SIZE-P NIL :X 1 :Y 2 :WIDTH 3 :HEIGHT 4 :MIN-WIDTH NIL :MIN-HEIGHT NIL :MAX-WIDTH NIL :MAX-HEIGHT NIL :WIDTH-INC NIL :HEIGHT-INC NIL :MIN-ASPECT NIL :MAX-ASPECT NIL :BASE-WIDTH NIL :BASE-HEIGHT NIL :WIN-GRAVITY NIL :PROGRAM-SPECIFIED-POSITION-P NIL :PROGRAM-SPECIFIED-SIZE-P NIL) #S(XLIB:WM-SIZE-HINTS :USER-SPECIFIED-POSITION-P NIL :USER-SPECIFIED-SIZE-P NIL :X 0 :Y 2 :WIDTH 0 :HEIGHT 4 :MIN-WIDTH NIL :MIN-HEIGHT NIL :MAX-WIDTH NIL :MAX-HEIGHT NIL :WIDTH-INC NIL :HEIGHT-INC NIL :MIN-ASPECT NIL :MAX-ASPECT NIL :BASE-WIDTH NIL :BASE-HEIGHT NIL :WIN-GRAVITY NIL :PROGRAM-SPECIFIED-POSITION-P T :PROGRAM-SPECIFIED-SIZE-P T) With patch: #S(XLIB:WM-SIZE-HINTS :USER-SPECIFIED-POSITION-P NIL :USER-SPECIFIED-SIZE-P NIL :X 1 :Y 2 :WIDTH 3 :HEIGHT 4 :MIN-WIDTH NIL :MIN-HEIGHT NIL :MAX-WIDTH NIL :MAX-HEIGHT NIL :WIDTH-INC NIL :HEIGHT-INC NIL :MIN-ASPECT NIL :MAX-ASPECT NIL :BASE-WIDTH NIL :BASE-HEIGHT NIL :WIN-GRAVITY NIL :PROGRAM-SPECIFIED-POSITION-P NIL :PROGRAM-SPECIFIED-SIZE-P NIL) #S(XLIB:WM-SIZE-HINTS :USER-SPECIFIED-POSITION-P NIL :USER-SPECIFIED-SIZE-P NIL :X 2 :Y 4 :WIDTH 0 :HEIGHT 0 :MIN-WIDTH NIL :MIN-HEIGHT NIL :MAX-WIDTH NIL :MAX-HEIGHT NIL :WIDTH-INC NIL :HEIGHT-INC NIL :MIN-ASPECT NIL :MAX-ASPECT NIL :BASE-WIDTH NIL :BASE-HEIGHT NIL :WIN-GRAVITY NIL :PROGRAM-SPECIFIED-POSITION-P T :PROGRAM-SPECIFIED-SIZE-P T) Your test code works (or at least runs without error) both with and without the patch on my system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sam Steingold (sds) Date: 2011-04-27 16:05 Message: 1. actual_format_return is 32, not 64; value of 64 raises an exception (NOTREACHED) 2. the text you are quoting comes from http://www.x.org/releases/X11R7.5/doc/man/man3/XGetWindowProperty.3.html and http://www.x.org/releases/X11R7.6/doc/man/man3/XChangeProperty.3.xhtml which say: "If the returned format is 32, the property data will be stored as an array of longs (which in a 64-bit application will be 64-bit values that are padded in the upper 4 bytes)." what could "padded in the upper 4 bytes" mean? how should it be handled? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sam Steingold (sds) Date: 2011-04-27 15:39 Message: at any rate, on my 64-bit linux box, the following works without the patch and breaks with it: (xlib:with-open-display (dpy) (dolist (screen (xlib:display-roots dpy)) (dolist (window (xlib:query-tree (xlib:screen-root screen))) (multiple-value-bind (data type format bytes-after) (xlib:get-property window :WM_NORMAL_HINTS) (when data (assert (eq type :WM_SIZE_HINTS)) (assert (= format 32)) (assert (= bytes-after 0)) (assert (= (length data) 18)) (print (list (xlib:wm-name window) data)) (print (xlib:wm-normal-hints window))))))) ("Firefox" (532 0 0 635674972 0 0 0 0 0 4586067 10117896 18 4294862976 10121144 4294862672 4294862752 2872256880 6587458)) *** - AREF: index 6587458 for #(:UNMAP :NORTH-WEST :NORTH :NORTH-EAST :WEST :CENTER :EAST :SOUTH-WEST :SOUTH :SOUTH-EAST :STATIC) is out of range ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sam Steingold (sds) Date: 2011-04-27 12:08 Message: thanks for the patch. do you have a test case? The reason I am asking is that I am not quite sure it is quite correct. (specifically, make_uint32(unsigned long) should be UL_to_I) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101355&aid=3292605&group_id=1355 |
