Here the warning is pointless because the dangerous situation with setjmp() is that when it returns a nonzero value, the register-allocated local variables may have been clobbered (an effect typically only seen on SPARC CPUs, but I'm glad gcc warns about it on all platforms). Here the only setjmp() call is in the finish_entry_frame(ITAGBODY,returner,, goto go_entry; ); line, and when setjmp() has returned a nonzero value, the statement body = value1; is executed. > while I would love to see the ignorable warning disappear, I am a little > bit wary of using this patch because it seems that this abuses > `volatile' (its meaning is that "this variable can be modified outside > this process" which is not the same as what the warning is about). 'volatile' instructs the compiler not to make assumptions about the variable's value. If it removes the warning then - apparently - because it also causes gcc to allocate the variable on the C stack rather than in a register. So, it slows down the interpreter. Bruno |

Hi Jerry, while I would love to see the ignorable warning disappear, I am a little bit wary of using this patch because it seems that this abuses `volatile' (its meaning is that "this variable can be modified outside this process" which is not the same as what the warning is about). --- src/control.d 19 Nov 2009 21:18:36 -0000 1.171 +++ src/control.d 2 Jul 2011 17:56:35 -0000 @@ -1593,7 +1593,7 @@ LISPSPECFORM(tagbody, 0,0,body) { /* (TAGBODY {tag | statement}), CLTL p. 130 */ - var object body = popSTACK(); + var volatile object body = popSTACK(); { /* build GENV-frame: */ var gcv_object_t* top_of_frame = STACK; /* pointer to frame */ pushSTACK(aktenv.go_env); Bruno, WDYT? -- Sam Steingold (http://sds.podval.org/) on CentOS release 5.6 (Final) X 11.0.60900031 http://pmw.org.il http://thereligionofpeace.com http://palestinefacts.org http://www.PetitionOnline.com/tap12009/ http://openvotingconsortium.org The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. |

Hello all, A few months ago, I assumed maintainership of the clisp package in Fedora (not that I'm any kind of expert, but because I didn't want it to be dropped from the Fedora repository). This week, I was notified that clisp is failing to build in Fedora Rawhide. We are building the libsvm module. The immediate build problem is that Rawhide moved from libsvm 3.0 to 3.1, which dropped the deprecated svm_destroy_model function entirely. I'm attaching the patch I came up with to address this problem. I am not confident that it is correct. I'd appreciate somebody looking it over for me. After applying that patch, I'm still getting a build failure, while running the tests. I don't understand it. I'll attach the entire build log (compressed, due to its size), but here are the last few lines: (LIST (SYSTEM::CHARSET-RANGE CHARSET:BASE64 #\+ #\+ 2) (SYSTEM::CHARSET-RANGE CHARSET:BASE64 #\+ #\/ 10) (SYSTEM::CHARSET-RANGE CHARSET:BASE64 #\A #\Z 2) (SYSTEM::CHARSET-RANGE CHARSET:BASE64 (CODE-CHAR 0) (CODE-CHAR 10000) 1000)) EQUAL-OK: ("++" "++//" "AZ" "++/9AZaz") (LET ((LIST NIL)) (DO-EXTERNAL-SYMBOLS (SYM (FIND-PACKAGE "CHARSET")) (PUSH (LIST SYM (ASH (LENGTH (SYSTEM::GET-CHARSET-RANGE (ENCODING-CHARSET (SYMBOL-VALUE SYM)))) -1)) LIST)) (SETQ LIST (SORT LIST #'< :KEY #'SECOND)) (FORMAT T "~& ~:D encoding~:P:~%~:{~25@A: ~5:D~%~}" (LENGTH LIST) LIST)) *** - handle_fault error2 ! address = 0x0 not in [0x333de6000,0x3340cd7d0) !
