For those that are curious, sys.platform.lower () on an OSX machine returns "darwin", and according to logic, the string "win" is a substring of "darwin", which caused OSX to be treated as Windows. The funtion os.startfile() is a Windows-only feature. If someone could please give me a new (and really fast one too) OSX machine I could test things like this... :) -- Kids!
