Hello, Does anyone know how to enable a 'Timing Diagram' on Logisim? I've searched their User Manuel and web and it doesn't seem that creating a timing diagram is supported. On the Web some very old posts refer to 'Chronograph' function which creates timing diagrams, but that function is no longer available on the latest version of Logisim I down loaded. Any feedback is appreciated. -Glen
Hello people, i am doing an assigment for my SE course and i really need help in knowing what is that in the picture, thanks
I installed logisym after but the icon does not work I also update for Java via Terminal
Logisim isn't working as it should
How can I run Logisim without administrative rights in Windows 10? I can't execute it as ordinary windows user.
Ilia, I would see the value in your help for making an interpretation of Logisim to Greek language. Toward the end, I will attempt to finish interpretation by deciphering likewise the records.
The solution is to download the .jar file instead of the Windows EXE version. Install a JRE like Microsoft's rendition of OpenJDK (link - hope it's permanent). Get the .msi package and install it like any other application. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/java/openjdk/download Download the logisim app as a .jre even though it says Linux and MacOS. It's Java. It'll run. Double click the .jre file and enjoy Logisim.

Hi, I am new in LogiSim and wanted to simulate a small circuit shown in the attachment as png. The counter CntEqu shall count how many consecutively equal data are input from ROM. The counter value together with the 4bit data is output with register RegOut. The D-Flipflop FFL shall flag if new data are available. In simulation of this circuit I found two errors. I used Logisim Windows 2.7.1. Error 1: The counter CntEqu is missing the first count. The synchronous 4bit counter 74161 has two enable...
“Logisim-evolution.app” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
No bug, xnor is thru for an odd number of thru. This is why xnor is useful for parity test..
Hello friend, I am from brazil. Thank you for your comment, this help me install logisim.
Open up your macos terminal and type: brew install logisim-evolution You need to have homebrew working on your mac. After you installed it, it should open and work correctly. I hope I'm not too late...
Mac OS Logisim crashing before running
I replaced JavaApplicationStub from another project and now it works. Logisim attached.
You can do a simple integrated circuit with input's and output's pull behavior being pull down. It will convert error and floating to 0 and keep 1 and 0 as is.
Logism - I know this is going back some years but Logism is appretiated here. My daughter asked me how a calculator works, so I'm trying to show her with this wodnerful programme. Thanks
When I try to open Logisim on my MacOS (Catalina) with Java 12.0.2, I get the following error: To open “Logisim”, you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime. In fact, I also tried Java 11 and Java 8 to get it to work, but they both also failed. Since only one version of Java can run at one time, this is an issue for anyone who needs to run Java 8+ and Logisim. This seems to be an issue with other open source apps as well, requiring a Java SE 6 dependency on Catalina. However, Catalina is incompatible...
Fails to open on Java 8+, MacOS Catalina
I had the same issue. To fix this, I installed OpenJDK (if you don't have Java installed) from here: https://openjdk.java.net I used the instructions from here to do the installation: https://java.tutorials24x7.com/blog/how-to-install-openjdk-14-on-mac (the OpenJDK version I used was 1.6, so the file name in the instructions changes from: "jdk-14.0.1.jdk" to "jdk-16.jdk" Then, I used the tool and instructions located here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252335117 This replaces the "JavaApplicationStub"...
Having the same problem!!! I traced back the issue. In the XnorGate.java in the computeOutput function in case the code runs to the else branch, it calls computeExactlyOne function, which is nonsense. The if statement should be replaced with a simple call to the computeOddParity function
Bug in XNOR truth table
Hi, I have created a Software Requirements Specification Document for Logisim - attached in this message. I think it could serve as a helpful resource for new users of Logisim interested in learning more about it, or experienced users who perhaps want to create their own fork of Logisim. I am looking forward to any suggestions as to how I could improve the document.
FYI logisim-evolution is not compatible with my old designs (it just freezes with 100% cpu after all the warnings)
On windows 10 installing this jre version , it runs on very low graphics. Font is bad. It works but looks very ugly. Though on troubleshooting visual quality increases, still its not good. I dont know how to tackle this problem.
I'm trying to create a circuit to check whether a BCD number is a palindrome or not. Only problem is that the length of the palindrome is not given so I honestly have no idea how to go about doing this. Any help would be appreciated
My understanding in talking with the developer is that as of 2014, there are no more updates. He was working for a small college in Arkansas that supported his time on this project, his new employer does not, so this is all we have. I use this program quite a bit when I teach Digital Electronics.
Will there be no more program updates?
logisim-win-2.7.1.exe doesnt do anything
I am having the same issue, is there a fix for this?
I have a question while constructing multiplexer related circuits. I used ‘4 X 1 Multiplexer and LED’ to test logic with this setting. I need to test ‘Enable pin for (Mux)’ which has blue line. Even if I put 0, 1, X in enable, the LED is always all on. I also tested LED with pull down resistor. The test result is the same. Please let me know the method of test the enable pin .
Logisim won't start.
Hey, I've found the java version that is necessary: here is the download link: https://www.oracle.com/webapps/redirect/signon?nexturl=https://download.oracle.com/otn/java/jdk/1.5.0_01/jre-1_5_0_01-windows-i586-p.exe I've tried it on windows xp, and it works, I did it virtualy. I think if java 5.0 is installed on the system, his program will work I've put the java version I used in this message if you do not wish to create an account at oracle.

Please please do this.
Please let me know how to save all the files in pdf or in doc so that we can form good notes of digital systems
When I try to run the program on my laptop, I get the following message... This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0. I installed the Java 12 development kit which includes the runtime environment.

Hello! Could anyone tell me how to connect two ore more buttons on the same input? Greetings from Germany
When editing the sub-circuit icon or symbol with pins, is there a way to put a dynamic display like some of the stock sub-circuits have? I would like to be able to show the status of my sub-circuits in a similar way as the rigester's from the Logisim library. They show their contents on thier icons. I have a circuit for a custom register with control lines as part of a CPU design and would like to be able to see what the register is holding on it's icon.
Triggered even not
Logisim in Linux mint
I am working on a project that involes downloading Logisim's source code. Once I downloaded and opened the java files they all had erros in them. Does anyone know a solution to this?
Left Column View
OK, this is an idea :) Thank you for the suggestion, nevertheless I think that you should work on it :) Regards. (I apologize for any errors (translator google :))
Carl or one of the other devs tried to add two way pins but there was a problem somewhere in the simulator he could not quite track down. The only way currently is to cheat slightly. Create two pins inside the subcircuit that are next to each other on the component view as shown on the attached screenshots. Then when you wire to them, run a wire from the inner to the outer connector, so it looks like one connection! It works better on components with filled shapes which hide the extra wires, as shown...

Is it possible to create a two-way pin? Eg using three-state buffers. It's about a pin like DATA with RAM.
The built-in library HDL-IP and TCL is not available in this version.
LogiSim On Windows 10
Hi guys, I have to create a 7seg display and add to it an oscilloscope. So I´d like to know if there is a such funktion in LOGISIM. Thank you.
you could use an input pin in stead of a button.
I know when I click an input button with the poke tool it's supposed to toggle, but is there a way to make it STAY toggled? When I click and hold down, it stays toggled on, but when I release the button, it toggles off. Help?
You can use a pull resistor to make the value 0 when the signal is unknow
Hello, I've been creating some complex circuits on Logisim lately and I've ran into a weird problem that I haven't manage to fix. On the circuit there are moments where some signals are unknown, the blue wire, the thing is that I have an "enable" that depends on one of those and when it's unknown the enable is at 1 so I makes all the rest go wrong. Is there any way to tell Logisim with a component or setting that unknown is 0 so the enable doesn't active? Thanks
Hello, I need help on making a 4-bit adder/subtractor on logisim displayed on 7-Segment. My circuit works when adding up to 9 and subtracting to 0 (displayed on a single 7-Segment), but I also need to represent negative numbers with a negative sign on the 7-segment as well as displaying an "E" when overflow is detected. I appreciate any help :)
Hello guys! :) I NEED HELP. I am student and I have a school project which requires me to build a calculator using LOGISIM The calculator has to comprise of 1. numbers 0-9 2. =,+,/ and x 3. display to show the results Thank you in advance :)
Thanks, fixed, but you're in the wrong forum; this the original project's forum, write here instead The link to the fork forum is also in the "Contacts" section of my website and in the help logisim help menu
I found an error in the italian version of "Logisim" : In English version i can change "Label Font" of a device and change the Family to "SansSerif Plain - 12", while in the italian version it is translated like: "SansSerif Sottolineato 12" that means "SansSerif Underlined 12" and the label isn't underlined.
Yes, it's dead but you can find some fork, check the mine at https://logisim.altervista.org/
Hey, it's also in my fork https://logisim.altervista.org/ If you are interested just click download and let me know, i'm developing a lot and i already added a lot of new things that you can read on the changelog
and when you run: java -jar /usr/share/logisim/logisim.jar RAM_Test.circ -tty table -load RAM_Test_Img You will get: 0000 0011 0000 1101 0000 0000 0000 0011 0000 1101 0000 1101 Showing again that before the first clock tick the RAM returns all zeros. Here is the test circuit.
