Hi,=20 I'm using SuSE10.2 and its openssh version is 4.4p1. But on the download page of chrootssh, it only has 4.2p1, 4.3p1, and 4.5p1. Is there any reason for it to skip 4.4p1 version? Thanks for your time. Best, Hung Lin Software Engineer NexTone Communications, Inc. |

Hello all, Recently I compiled an openssh with the chroot patch : OpenSSH_3.8.1p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8d 28 Sep 2006 Got it installed and working. I followed instructions on how to make the chrooted home (I called it /home/jail), when I tested chroot by using 'chroot /home/jail /usr/bin/ls' , it works..but when I tried sftp chroot_user@chroot_host, it failed with this command : fatal: Couldn't chroot to user directory /home/jail I'm using AIX 5.3. This entry I have in /etc/passwd for the chroot user : chroot_user:!:264:1:FTP User - chroot:/home/jail/./home/chroot_user:/usr/bin/sh Any idea why its failing? Thanks...at my wits end here. is there a common library or file that the sshd uses for scp connections and key authentication? I've already done a ldd sshd for both the system sshd and the sshd- chroot and I've made sure all those libraries were included. |

when I try to scp a file to a user, I get the error: unknown user 503 lost connection (this is after I enter my password.) interestingly enough, I can ssh into the same client with no problem. I believe this must tie into my same problem of not being able to use an authentication key to log in, but I may be wrong. |

I can log into a normal ssh account without a password and a dsa key, no problem. [ssh -i key <user>@<ip>:~] I can log into a chroot ssh account with a password no problem I'm trying to ssh into chroot-jailed account without a password using a dsa key. (I could use an RSA key too if it's possible) Is it possible to log into a chroot ssh account using an authentication key? |
