Has anyone had any luck using the chootssh package with the sftplogging
patch from sftplogging.sourceforge.net?

I have installed everything that is required (I believe).  I can get
sftp logging to work properly for regular users but not for chrooted
users.  I have followed the instructions about setting up a new socket
within syslog (syslogd -a /path/to/chroot/dev/log) yet I get nothing in
the /var/log/messages files for any of the chrooted users.

Due to outside influences we are stuck using the following versions of
software:

I am new to this mailing, so please pardon me if my
inquiry is too elementary.

Anyway, I would like to know if the procedure listed
in the FAQ would also work for AIX 5.3 and if there's
any additional step that I need to do for this to work
on AIX?

I actually tried to use the procedure on AIX 5.3 but
when I tested the login part - I am getting this
message from the sshd debug mode => "Couldn't chroot
to user's directory /home/jail".

I did the "chroot /home/jail/home /bin/sh" test and it
seems to be working for me - as shown below:

I found ur email-id in google.

I am trying for setting the chroot for ssh.

I entered the following entry in the /etc/pam.d/sshd file
session required pam_chroot.so onerr=3Dfail

and I entered the entry for user1 in /etc/security/chroot.conf file
user1 /home/user1

And I did the modifications to /etc/ssh/ssd_config file=20

UsePrivilegeSeparation no


after that, while logging to the ssh server with the user1 account, I am =
getting the following errors.

#ssh localhost -l user1

Connection to 192.168.30.10 closed by remote host.
Connection to 192.168.30.10 closed.


My /var/log/secure entries for this event are :

wow im having problems with just about every write up i can find... any
help?.. commands like cvs dont work.. and other random and poorly written
items are killing my brain


just trying to setup an easy to sftp in to interface for my remote
graphicdesigners connecting in to this server. or i need another option,
please help :(
