Hello! I'm attempting to get several games engines that use OpenGL to work on chrimium for some demo's at my University, and was wondering if anyone has had any luck doing this? So far, I have managed some to use some 'primitive' engines like quake 2, but i have tried, with no luck Ogre3D, crystalspace, and even doom 3. Any suggestions? Kind regards, Alan. |

I am attempting to do the following: run a tile display say 2X2 while = also rendeing back to the original app. Is there a way to take an = application like paraview and render it to 4 tiles in a 2x2 matrix and = still be able to render the original result to the paraview window? Thanks in advance. |

Hi, I would like to compare the performance of our cluster. We are getting 40-60 fps running atlantis (with 20 sharks) in a 3x1 (tiles), 1 frontend with nVidia Quadro FX 5500 (not yet configured to frame lock), AMD Opteron 280, 8 GB RAM and GigE network Using: Rocks 4.2.1 XDMX + Chromium 1-9 autodmx.conf (tilesort). Any places to look for performance improvements? Thank you. -- Nino |

What type of setup are you using, tilesort? What is the purpose of using Chromium? Are you sure crappfaker is being killed, and it isn't segfaulting (does Windows XP make a distinction?)? Thank you for your time, James Steven Supancic III |

Sean, Thank you for your advice. I finally solved the GLX problem by reinstalling NVidia driver at all my slave nodes. It appears that even i could run glxinfo and glxgears sucessuflly, I still need to reinstall Nvidia driver in order to run Chromim. Now, i finally can run a tiled display application!! Okay, quick question. Can you run (and see) glxgears on every display involved? I get the feeling that you don't have a complete setup on your cluster. If the GLX extension is missing on any of your displays, you will have trouble doing any OpenGL, let alone Chromium. Being root won't matter one way or the other. -Sean __ Sean Ahern Oak Ridge National Laboratory 865-241-3748 Michelle Chu wrote: > Hello, there, > First of all, I would like to thank Dale and Sean for your suggestions. well, we need to know if it is Chromium or DMX that is crashing... because if it is DMX you are on the wrong mailing list =). It should be fairly easy to tell. Now, Xdmx does not support XVideo, or MIT-SHM, ergo those video playback methods are not available with it. Perhaps you can find a way to disable the movie (or play it back via another method). Secondly, I have not heard of anyone using Chromium to play either game. Chromium supports OpenGL 1.5 as well as a number of extensions. Try to find a list of the specific extensions and OpenGL version Doom3 requires. (or get an error message from Doom3 that will tell you about a missing requirement). With this information, we will be able to more accurately assess the difficulty involved in getting it working. Thank you for your time, James Steven Supancic III |

Hello, there, First of all, I would like to thank Dale and Sean for your suggestions. I downloaded MegaLib and installed it at my slave node. Now, I can run glxinfo succesfully, glxgears command generates a openGL window with spinning gears. Command xdpyinfo | grep -i glx` gives NV-GLX However, when i tried to run the demo atlantis at the slave node by typing: python crdemo.conf atlantis & it runs ok, then i typed: crserver & still shows: CR warning: oscarnode7: Render SPU: Display :0.0 doesn't support GLX CR warning: Render SPU: couldn't get a visual, renderspu_SystemInitVisual failed CR warning: Render SPU: couldn't create a window, renderspu_FindVisual return NULL CR error: Render SPU: Couldn't get a double-buffered RGB visual with Z! I noticed that on one of my chromium working slave node, xdpyinfo |grep -i glx gives GLX, and NV-GLX. Could the missing GLX cause the problem in the above case? BTW, i am using root account when typing these above commands. I just started trying to get the hang of Chromium configuration files, so I'm very new to this. I've been able to get the crdemo.conf atlantis to run on my head node, so the program should be installed correctly. What I've been trying to do is run Chromium 1.8 with the simplemural.confconfiguration file edited for only one tile. I entered "python simplemural.conf atlantis" on the head node. On the slave node I entered "crserver," but I got these warning messages: "Couldn't find the CRMOTHERSHIP environment variable, defaulting to local host" and "Bad mothership response: never heard of server host [slave node's name]." What could be the problem? Any advice for setting up a configuration file for a simple tile display wall would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Andrew |

To be able to do OpenGL rendering on the slave nodes, you will have to install GLX as well as X11. Chromium can't do anything with OpenGL on the back ends until you make it available. A simple test, after you install GLX on the slaves, will be trying something simple like "glxgears" or "glxinfo". If you can get those to execute successfully, you'll be well on your way to getting Chromium to run correctly. -Sean __ Sean Ahern Oak Ridge National Laboratory 865-241-3748 Michelle Chu wrote: > Hello, > > We have been trying to install chromium on our Oscar Linux cluster to drive > a tiled-display wall. Hello, We have been trying to install chromium on our Oscar Linux cluster to drive a tiled-display wall. We installed Chromium on our headnode and were able to run the demo program at the headnode. We also installed X11 (because slave nodes had no graphic desktop manager, only console), Chromium at the slavenode. We passed the compilation for Chromium at the slavenode. However, when we try to run the same demo program at the slave node. We had the following error: Render SPU: Display: 0.0 doesn't support GLX... SPU: couldn't get a double-buffered RGB visual with Z! Shall we reinstall GLX package at the slavenode? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Michelle |

Hello Chromium users and developers, I am trying to use Chromium to display left-/right-eye stereoscopic =20 outputs on four machines via projectors and a fifth master hooked to a =20 headset. The headset takes a resolution of 1696x480 (848x480 for each =20 'eye') and the resolution of the stereoscopic projectors is 1400x1024 =20 for each projector. Setup: vr-master: Visual Research V8 headset slave1: left side/left eye slave2: right side/left eye slave3: left side/right eye slave4: right side/right eye I am using a modified tiles.conf configuration file (attached) and our =20 configuration file (vrcim.in, attached). I have the slaves displaying =20 their left/right sides/eyes, but the render window on the master is a =20 small, empty window. I cannot seem to get the master to readback =20 (using the readback SPU) from the render nodes, as well as rendering =20 at a different resolution. When I try the readback SPU, I get a small (not 1400x1024) window on =20 the slaves that flickers with the background, and the empty window on =20 the master. When I close the empty window on the master, the program =20 (using the city demo) then seems to run, but exits: This is Chromium, Version 1.9 Autostart for node slave1: ['/usr/bin/ssh', 'slave1', 'source', =20 '$HOME/.bashrc', '&&', 'crserver'] Autostart for node slave2: ['/usr/bin/ssh', 'slave2', 'source', =20 '$HOME/.bashrc', '&&', 'crserver'] Autostart for node slave3: ['/usr/bin/ssh', 'slave3', 'source', =20 '$HOME/.bashrc', '&&', 'crserver'] Autostart for node slave4: ['/usr/bin/ssh', 'slave4', 'source', =20 '$HOME/.bashrc', '&&', 'crserver'] Autostart for node vr-master: ['/usr/bin/ssh', 'vr-master', '/bin/sh', =20 '-c', "'s ource", '$HOME/.bashrc;', =20 "/home/chromium/VADE/THIRD_PARTY/cr/bin/Linux/crappfak er'"] Autostart for node vr-master: ['/usr/bin/ssh', 'vr-master', 'source', =20 '$HOME/.ba shrc', '&&', 'crserver'] CR Error(vr-master:7189): I have no clients! Hi, I've just started working with CR this week, so I'm sure this is something dumb, but I haven't been able to figure it out. I got the crdemo.config working fine. My aim is to have a tiled display on one machine with one tile on each of the two outputs on my video card (quadro FX 1500). I have my xorg.conf file set up to have two separate X screens. I've also tried it with twinview enabled just in case. The 'display_string' attribute seemed to have no effect before I commented it out. I had thought the display_string would send it to one video output or the other. I'm running cr1.9 on Mandriva 2007 64bit, Athlon X2. With the config file below, I get no errors, but nothing renders (no windows open) and the fps line never shows up in the console. When I comment out everything related to server2, everything runs as expected, with an empty app window and a single atlantis window. I was expecting two atlantis windows with the second server in use. Any help is appreciated. thanks, morris # All rights reserved # # See the file LICENSE.txt for information on redistributing this software. import sys sys.path.append( '../server' ) from mothership import * demo = 'atlantis' clientspuname = 'tilesort' server1_spu = SPU( 'render' ) server2_spu = SPU( 'render' ) client_spu = SPU( clientspuname ) W = 500 H = 500 server1_spu.Conf( 'window_geometry', [50, 50, W, H] ) #server1_spu.Conf( 'display_string', ':0' ) server2_spu.Conf( 'window_geometry', [600, 50, W, H] ) #server2_spu.Conf( 'display_string', ':1' ) server1_node = CRNetworkNode( 'localhost' ) server2_node = CRNetworkNode( 'localhost' ) server1_node.AddSPU( server1_spu ) server2_node.AddSPU( server2_spu ) server1_node.AddTile( 0, 0, W, H ) server2_node.AddTile( 500, 0, W, H ) client_node = CRApplicationNode( ) client_node.AddSPU( client_spu ) client_spu.AddServer( server1_node, protocol='tcpip', port=7000 ) client_spu.AddServer( server2_node, protocol='tcpip', port=7001 ) client_node.SetApplication( demo ) client_node.StartDir( crbindir ) cr = CR() cr.MTU( 1024*1024 ) cr.AddNode( client_node ) cr.AddNode( server1_node ) cr.AddNode( server2_node ) cr.Go() |

I'm not sure that option has ever seen much use. It might be broken.
I'm afraid I don't have the time to look into it. Maybe you can.
The relevant code is in the crserverlib/ directory.

Hi all
I am building a tile-display system under windows xp with chromium. Everything is ok except the edge blending.
According to the doc, I had added
nodes[1].Conf("overlap_blending", "knockout")
in the crserver config but it doesn't work.
Anyone knows how to enable it??
thanks
