I installed that - nice - script and it runs very great in firefox.
But it seems like ajax will not run in ie... (doesnt create an object or something like that)
I got a message like "req is null or no object" and the reloading and posting does not work.
any help would be appreciated.

Can I ask what version of IE and what version of Chatr? There may be some updating that's needed to create the httpreq object.
IE: 6.0 (can't update!)
and the latest release of chatr. (0.7)
it would be great, if there would be a way to fix that in source-code... :-/
