Hello everybody, I have a difficulty configuring CGI:IRC to meet all my needs. I'm stuck with changing the font size of the main window. The font is set to Verdana by default, and it looks rather huge. Ofcourse, it is possible to change the font size inside my browser, but I don't want my users to bother with that. Instead, I want to change the default font size of the "Default" style. I tried changing some options in formats/default and in interfaces/style-default.css, but nothing seems to work. So, what do I have to edit to set a smaller default font size? Many thanks in advance... -- Karlo Lozovina - Mosor |

Hi =20 I installed CGI-IRC and have an odd problem with it.. I can log into my server and see everyone there and what they type but I = can't type or use any of the features (help/options/whois) once in a while I can type a few words when I first join but then it = stops again.. I type the words and nothing gets to the channel. Here is what I have tried >=20 used the default socket prefix /tmp/cgiirc- at first and had this = problem Wanted to make sure it was working so then I created a new path for the = tmp socket files so that I could see if they are being created as I log = in and I did change the path to point to it in config.cgi and = client-perl.cgi checked and the socket files were being created there = ok.. Next I tried going from ver 0.5.4 to ver 0.5.5perl same thing happens = checked all my file and dir attribs and they are set ok once in a while I will get a screen pop up that says "about blank" and = I added the interface=3Dnonjs extention to see what error would come up = and I get a "An error occured: Communication socket already exists" but = checking the tmp socket dir there are no files there when I get that = error. My host informed me that there shouldn't be a problem from their end = using CGI-IRC Had a few others try it and they get the same problem they can't type to = the channel either. Any thoughts or ideas that might help? |

Looks like in the interfaces/mozilla.pm, in sub fform, it generates the HTML for the input form: <input type="text" class="form-say" name="say" autocomplete="off" onpaste="return pastedata(window.clipboardData.getData('Text',''));" > Accoring to the stylesheet: .form-say { border: 0; width: 90%; padding-left: 4px; } So to test this, I made a quick HTML: <html><body> <div style="width:90%;border:1px solid black"> This div should be 90% </div> <input type="text" style="width:90%;border:1px solid black" value="This field should be 90%"> </body></html> This seemed to work normal in Firefox. So I copy/pasted the source text into an HTML file. It appears that the width:90% doesn't work when the tag is inside a <div class="form-form"> block. .form-form { float: left; } So I use the EditCSS extension to Firefox and realtime edit the CSS sheet. If I comment out float: left, the width:90% works! But as expected, the expanding colors bar appears on the next line, rather than beside the input field. I toyed around with the HTML and finally got this segment of HTML to work: <form name="myform" onSubmit="return cmd();" style="margin:0;padding:0"> <span id="nickname" class="form-nickname" style="float:left">nickname</span> <input type="text" class="form-say" name="say" autocomplete="off" style="float:left" onpaste="return pastedata(window.clipboardData.getData('Text',''));" > </form> Note I had to update the <form>, <span> and <input> tags consecutively. Unfortunately, the current setup of the stylesheet is not browser independant, so this code does not follow the stylesheet the same way as other browsers should. Rather than making a surroudning block (<form>) float:left, I made each tag float:left. Unfortunately, this isn't perfect. When I expand the colors bar, the input width is too wide, causing poor formatting. Oh well. It seems like a Firefox issue, though. Hope this helps the authors. --- Jeff Taylor <shd...@so...> wrote: > I've been noticing that since the 0.9 version of firefox. It was > working correctly under the 0.8 series. Hi all, I've been a fan of CGI:IRC since I found it. I set it up on my own site so I can chat from work through the proxy. I'm also a big fan of the Firefox browser, so I use it as much as I can and not IE. I have noticed one problem with CGI:IRC that you are probably aware of. The line entry is only a few hundred pixels wide, eventhough the window is much wider. It's as if the input field is not resizing with the window. Is there a fix for this? Hi. I am trying to do something that I'm not having any success accomplishing and thought I'd ask first if it's possible to do this and then a tip or suggestion on what I need to do. We have installed IRC and CGI:IRC on our server. Works great!! It's easy on the server, runs fast, very nice. Yay! I would like to insert our club's banner, which provides info about upcoming events, etc., at the very top of the screen. This would be above the status frame that contains the Status, Channels, Help/Options/Close icons, etc. I just can't seem to find where or how to do that. I'm reading through the docs, particularly the customization info, but thus far I'm not putting it together (Dense Mode tonight, I'm afraid). Could someone give me a pointer or some info on how to do this. We're using the default screen, though I'm also wondering if this would have to be done for each of the other themes as well. Anyway, can somebody help? Thanks much. Thus: Banner.................. Status ...................... Chat window ............... Users............ etc. Regards, Bob |

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered already, but I haven't seen it. I have all the cgiirc files dumped willy nilly into cgi-bin right now. However, I want to have multiple configurations, one of which is password protected. One way I can think of to two this is to have one which is public. I already have that at http://buttersquash.net/irc which as you can see redirects to the irc.cgi script. However, I want to have another that allows connecting either to a different set of channels and servers or any channel and server at all. I can copy irc.cgi to another filename, like secret.cgi and then protect that with .htaccess. However, what I want to do is have a different config file. What do I have to change in irc.cgi to do that, or can I do that through irc.cgi at all? The reason is that obviously, while having an open cgiirc to one specific channel is something you can do, having a cgiirc that can connect to anything will rapidly become a source of abuse and bandwidth consumption. I can probably figure this out given time, but I am wondering more if anyone has already done it and has pointers before I go reinvent the wheel. rob |
