You may very well be running CGI:IRC and Unrealircd 3.2.4 however, there is a module for Unrealircd specifically for CGI:IRC to return the users information and not the information obtained form the webserver they are connecting from. This module works in 3.2.3 but in 3.2.4 it crashes ircd. Did you compile the unreal cgiirc.so module that works with Unrealircd or are you just using Unrealircd as it came? It appears that the cgiirc.so module required by unrealircd for the CGI:IRC web client doesn't work with the latest release of Unrealircd 3.2.4. Is this module source file going to be updated soon or do I need to discontinue support for CGI:IRC? -- Dale |

Hello, I am trying to get CGI:IRC to work on OpenBSD's apache which is a jailed environment. I've followed the perl in an apache chroot setup instructions: http://livenudefrogs.com/~anubis/servers/apache_perl_chroot.shtml and have verified the directory and file permissions are the same as those in /usr and /etc. When I access http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/irc.cgi the CGI:IRC window opens up and looks fine. However I get the following error: *** An error occurred: Mkdir error: No such file or directory Not quite sure where to go from here. The logfiles look like cgi:irc is attempting to find the site within the cgi-bin directory. Any insight is appreciated. That's odd, for some reason it is allowed to create a directory in /tmp but not open a socket, you could try creating your own tmp directory somewhere other than /tmp maybe. You'll have to change socket_prefix in both the config file and in client-perl.cgi for CGI:IRC to recognise the new path. David |

Hello, I'm new to CGI:IRC and have just installed it smoothly enough. Unfortunately when the script loads I receive the following error: "An error occurred: Error opening socket: Permission denied" Anyone have any ideas on fixing this? All the files are chmod 755 so I'm not sure what the problem would be. Thanks in advance. |

Everything is loaded up like its supposed to be, I'm getting the login s= creen then it even starts to connect. But the connection times out every= time and I can't figure out why. All the specified files were uploaded i= n ascii mode, .cgi's were chmod'd to 755. Even the small configuration f= ile won't connect. I think it might be ssomething with the hosting maybe= , any ideas? Any help is appreciated. ______________________________________________________________________ Call Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere in the World - FREE! It's normally some sort of CGI install problem, if you have access to=20 the error_log look to see if it says anything useful. If not check the=20= permissions on the CGI scripts and that you've uploaded all the files.. |

It's not that easy because CGI:IRC uses the Socket module instead of using IO::Socket, you can use something like stunnel if you just want access to one server. Or alternatively if you can run CGI:IRC on the same host as the web server then access the web server over HTTPS. |

I think due the lack of comments there is really no note or solution? =20 -----Urspr=FCngliche Nachricht----- Von: cgi...@li... [mailto:cgi...@li...] Im Auftrag von Thomas Gesendet: Montag, 17. Oktober 2005 21:43 An: cgi...@li... Betreff: [cgiirc-general] ping time out =20 Hi List, =20 the installation was fine and CGI::IRC is working. But after approximately 30 lines of text the client hung up and after approx. 1 minute the irc-server say: ping timeout. I=92ve tested the client with euirc.net and several servers of this network but I think this is not a network-issue. Possible its just a timeout-setting in a conf-file of perl or so? DO you have any idea how can I solve the ping-timeouts? =20 Thank you so much, =20 Regards, Bleistift =20 =20 =20 =20 |

So, I'm guessing the lack of response indicates a "No"? I also haven't been able to get the client I installed to connect to a secure server, so... Any plans to add support for it, or reasons why it couldn't be added? - Craig "Ne te quaesiveris extra."
